And this is the cover (as drawn by series artist Ian Churchill). As an astute Newsarama chap typed: if the art between the covers looked like this, I might actually buy the damn thing.

As opposed to the porn-o-matic cover? I was showing a non-comicking friend some of my latest purchases and he saw the ad for Supergirl and said "Wait, do they do porn comics?"

I had to tell him yes.

Vic Fluro, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 06:59 (twenty years ago)

Is it a Horn?

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 11:25 (twenty years ago)

Haha, Ian Churchill did a talk at the recent Toronto convention I attended.
It was called "Ian Churchill on Drawing Babes."

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

Ian Churchill's style is very similar to Chris Spouse's, isn't it?

chap who would dare to thwart the revolution (chap), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

Not even close.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

Scroll down for the Superart.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 13:03 (twenty years ago)

Translation for those that can't read my mind: Churchill's art on the series (from what I've seen) is on the stiff & emaciated Jim Lee side of meh, but his cover (in a more Sprouse-y, old school style) is the sort of art I wish IC was offering fannies.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 13:20 (twenty years ago)

IC?

I kinda liked Churchill's stuff on Supergirl #1 and the Superman/Batman issue that turned into Supergirl #0. I really don't like Michael Turner, though, and the two do seem to share a few sensibilities. But if Churchill was doing the insides like that. HELL YEAH.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

Ian Churchill

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

Oh. Duh. Fucking Infinite Crisis Overload.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 14:00 (twenty years ago)

Who did that Supergirl promo where she looked like a fish-eyed alien ready/willing/able to give the nerd gazing at her a BJ?

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

That's the one I meant!

Vic Fluro, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

Don't get your hopes up Dave: IC's cover for #2.

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

MUTANT ARM!

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Get the green guy! he's the only whose mouth's nothing like ours!

iodine (iodine), Thursday, 15 September 2005 00:18 (twenty years ago)

and Robin, his teeth are closed.

(maybe that's a sign of superheroic immaturity)

BLUE TWIZZLER ALERT

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 September 2005 02:30 (twenty years ago)

Since when did Kid Flash have the powers of the Atom?

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 15 September 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

Are Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy and Starfire in Young Justice these days, or have they made a Teen Titans to match the TV show (and stuck in Young Justice)?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 15 September 2005 09:30 (twenty years ago)

Young Justice ARe the Teen Titans these days. With the addition of them from the TV show. And Lady Speedy.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 15 September 2005 09:53 (twenty years ago)

Minus Baby Lobo.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 September 2005 13:43 (twenty years ago)

No Arrowette either.

iodine (iodine), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

Also, Red Tornado was last seen in pieces in the Batcave.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:04 (twenty years ago)

Which reminds me...wasn't Red Tornado in pieces during the Original Crisis, and when they tried to put him back together he BLOWED UP the JLA Satellite?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

Yes! He was another victim of the tiny footprints...

iodine (iodine), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

Red Tornado : Crisis :: Firestorm : Identity Crisis

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 September 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Does that make Sue Dibny Flash or Supergirl, then?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 September 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

Sue Dibny : Aquagirl

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 September 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

So Jean Loring = Chemo?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 September 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

IF ONLY

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 September 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

NB: Chemo is my favorite villain, in terms of design / looks.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 September 2005 17:22 (twenty years ago)

BTW - the answer to who drew the "porn" cover - M!CHA3L TURN3R

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 September 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

So I was searching Comics.org for Aquagirl pictures, and I noticed that Nick Cardy's early 60s Aquaman covers are almost all brilliant.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 September 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

What is with the coloring?!?!?!

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

BTW: are any of you chuckleheads READING this? This is actually one of four books from the Big Two that isn't on my pull list.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

I read the first two, and I don't think I'll bother with the third.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

i'm the same way as huk. even though the appeal of "fourteen year old girl in skintight bodysuit and miniskirt" is REALLY APPEALING, it's definitely pretty crap. Read JSA Classified instead... but hell, I haven't even picked up the last issue of that.

Special Agent Dale Koopa (orion), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

That thing's gone through fifteen reprintings. JSA:C, that is. I don't get kids today (except on the "skintight bodysuit / miniskirt" tip).

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:30 (twenty years ago)

I like the idea of the return of a the old Supergirl; it's a lovely character that could make for many great stories. That being said, I read the first issue and I can say that it was anything but great.

iodine (iodine), Friday, 21 October 2005 01:21 (twenty years ago)

WHEW! Rucka leaves Supergirl (at the altar). I was considering getting it, but now that Joe Kelly's on it, NOT SO TEMPTED.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

Guh! The bait, it be cut!

re:N'rama article: "tweaking" has different, yet appropriate, meaning where I work.
