I prefer to think of him as a great tragic figure. His life needs to be dramatised, with emphasis upon his character-shift.

some episode of ER a long time ago featured some small business owner suffering a similar injury, he turned into an emotionless dick and fired a bunch of longtime employees from his company and was a rude bastard to his wife on a constant basis. There was nothing to be done.

In my intro psych class we watched a low budget educational dramatization of his life with period costumes and everything. I can't remember if they showed the pole in his head or not.

Oh, it went straight through without stopping! I never knew that, I thought it got stuck in there and they had to pull it out.

My mother tells of a lobotomized aunt who had an obsession with cleaning and washing stuff (pebbles, bits of wood etc.)

favorite moment in Psych I was the Freud video we watched (prof basically told us beforehand "Freud is bullshit science but you have to watch this anyway"). It featured lots of trippy 60s special effects as well as a guy's id saying "YES. GOOD. WARM. HAAAAAAAATE. KILL YOUR FATHER. MOTHER. MOTHER. WARM." while his superego was saying "now that wouldn't be very appropriate would it"
