fyi i am now addicted to milk duds. normally i eat movie candy before the trailers have even started, but duds usually get me through to the opening credits.

An (American) friend used to insist that vegemite and marmite were both just solid soy sauce, I once made the mistake of trying to argue about this, then swore not to ever engage in any marmite or vegemite discussions ever again.

Reminds me of another argument I had with another American friend when we went to a restaurant and he asked for "Worshestershire" sauce and I did an involuntary laugh. NB: I am from Worcester.

School me, I've grown up saying "wis-ter-sher" sauce with the accent on the "Wis". I think I've got the syllables right? but have a feeling the accent is off

I know it says "Worcestershire" on the label but I've only heard it called "Worcester sauce" IRL, which is /ˈwʊstər/ "WOOS-ter"

Anyway no judgement, it is an annoying spelling, but he was annoyed at me for laughing and then told me that I was the one pronouncing it incorrectly.

I have never tried Vegemite. It is quite lacking in aesthetic appeal.

I have never tried vegemite, it is quite lacking in availability over here - I'm sure you can get it if you really want. I'd be interested to compare it to marmite, which I neither love nor hate.

They did have a big push on Vegemite in the UK maybe 30 years ago? It never really took because all right thinking Britishes said, no thanks, we'll stick with Marmite, it's much nicer.

IIRC from my one trip to the UK in the 90s, Marmite is... sweeter? Like its still savoury but not as briskly savoury as Vegemite is.
