The Prestige

Has anyone seen The Prestige yet? It was very well done, and without any spoilers I thought it would trigger great interest among Aeon Flux people, especially those who favor A Last Time for Everything...

I've been waiting to see if anyone else has seen this movie, I haven't but the idea that people who liked a Last time would like it is intriguing. Can I ask why that is without spoiling the movie? Who's in it?

Oh, I don't know if I'd be able to answer that without spoiling, but the movie brings up several topics and philosophical questions very similar to those found in Last Time. It stars Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, David Bowie (!!!), and Scarlett Johanssen, from the director of Batman Begins and Memento. Really, really quite good.

I thought this movie was really quite interesting, even if it telegraphs some of its twists waaaaaaay in advance, especially if you're "watching closely" like they suggest you to.

David Bowie was pretty awesome as Nikola Tesla, and Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are great leads. They put a lot of passion and borderline madness into their performances, which gives the movie a lot of edge.

This thing sounds great, David Bowie as Tesla? I have to see it, but is it in the movies or on dvd or something?

btw; anyone hear what the Dixie Chicks movie did at the box office?
In 14 days, “Shut Up and Sing” has taken in $174,891. Maybe they should take their own movie titles advice.

Aw, poor Dixie Chicks.

And yes, David Bowie is stellar in the film.

Wow, time to go see Shut Up and Sing.

In any case, 175k isn't too terrible for a documentary that probably cost half that.

I didn't see The Prestige. I saw The Illusionist. WORST FILM OF 2006

At the end of this movie, I felt much the way I would have if, at the end of Citizen Kane, "rosebud" turned out to be the name of a time traveller from the future whom Kane met during childhood who foretold that he would rise to a position of great power and wealth as a means of motivating his ambition so that the time-traveller's hidden, ultimate goal of influencing the course of history would ensure the eventual development of his favorite future TV melodrama "Xanadu".

Whoa! What a trippy ending that would've been for Citizen Kane! Would've put a better spin on Kane than a life spent in misplaced aquisitions seeking carefree lost days of boyhood.

I prefer your ending Peter and I think I'll retain that image but I suspect you didn't care much for the Prestige.

watched this yesterday. i've seen it before, but this time it was very confusing. so David Bowie's Tesla machine makes clones? but there are also twins?
