Metalocalypse?

Hello,
I have become enamoured with this silly show that I discovered by checking out robot chicken. Its called Metalocalypse (I can copy the spelling but I sill cant pronounce it). I'm not sure that the art style is remeniscent of Aeon, but it sometimes stikes me so. A lot of animation after '91 does.
But there are many other things that attract me to it that seem to remind me of Aeon.
For one, Obviously, the show is a wet dream manifested if B&B controlled the universe. B&B is a fraternal twin to Aeon from the heyday of MTV's animation experiments.
But beyond the obvious, the Pythonesque mix of the absurdly comic, and the morosely serious (or even disturbing) reminds me of some of my favorite Aeon episodes and moments. Specifically "the purge", but also the general gothic/comic tragedy feel of many of the early, and the best of the later episodes. There is even a touch of politics in the show, although I am still not sure if this is for purely comic value or a genuine statement, but its only similar and not as heart wrenching as Aeon.

Has anyone else seen this show?
Has anyone else noticed any obscure commonalities to Aeon or am I imagining it?

I was just rewatching some episodes on DVR and I noticed a few specific similarities. Skwisgaar seems to have a passing physical resemblence to Trevor. I think this is what reminded me of peters character design. Girlfriendklock ends with a variation on the nail in the heel gag. Dethdoubles doesn't have clones, but does involve body doubles. Someone often dies at the end of an episode. And dethklock ruling the world through personality worship seems like a page right out of Trevors book of favorite masterplans.
Aeon may not be a direct or conciouse inspiration, but I cant shake the feeling that the creators have indirectly or subconciously drawn inspiration from it.
