Here is the most recent fruit of my longtime labors. It's just a teaser so far, but I've got a lot of backstory and planning that is coming to back this up very soon. Please let me know what you think.

Yeah, it's all my own work. Though I have to chalk a lot of it up to Peter Chung. I've been a fan of his work for a long time, so his style (and those of his predecessors, Schiele and especially Klimt) have infiltrated my work. I especially have to thank Peter for inspiration in my costume designs and in a lot of the concepts I use in constructing my settings.
Let me explain a little more about this project. This is going to be a collaborative art society, like a small acting troupe, using a live text-based world (MUSH) to create shared stories and written art. The emphasis will be on personal, psychological exploration of the characters each player creates (and I mean "player" not as in game player, but as in a player on a stage, an actor, a dramatist). These characters can be created out of the blue, so to speak, but I'd rather the Desideratum be a safe spot to explore aspects of self and issues of ones own psyche (in other words, create art). And, hopefully, it will all come together in an illuminating and entertaining way, sort of like a support group getting together to put on a play they've written and directed themselves.
In addition, the somewhat futuristic setting will be a place to explore philosophical and human issues as they relate to technology, like the proliferation of media and communications, implications of new technologies, etc.
I'll let you all know when I update the site. It's my hope that some of you would be interested enough to try this thing out when it gets up and running. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey Matt this artwork really looks professional, reminds me a little of Peter Max. You must have a fabulous imagination. Uhm, so I guess Rosie is on the level?

Thanks for the compliments, Barb! And yes, Rosie is on the level.

one month passes...
Update: The Desideratum is opening as of right now, though almost at zero-level. Then again, I've just started a "wiki" for it
here (or you can follow the link in the previously mentioned page). If you're not familiar with wikis, think of them as collaborative text libraries. This is the place where I and anyone else interested can manipulate ideas, organize notes, contribute thoughts of their own, etc. Feel free to join in.
The more "live" location of the Desideratum is at telnet:firstmagic.com:1234. Nothing is really there yet, but I'm there often, and as the wiki and its participants begin to compose something something unified, we'll begin to manifest it in the latter location.
