This board doesn't have to dwell exclusively on Aeon Flux, just as the last board wasn't. I started it because although many people have said all there was to say about AF, it was still a very active board and Lusenet will not last much longer.

Besides, where else will we go when the new Aeon Flux movie, (starring Charlize Theron) is released?

Barb e (Barb e), Monday, 3 May 2004 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Y`ello! I'm here. Looks fine to me, much thanks to ilXor.com for the hosting, and Barb for the administration!

Syra (Syra), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi! Thanks for your efforts, Barb. I'll stop in when I can.

Matt Rebholz, Monday, 3 May 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Greetings! I guess I won't be as much of a newbie this time around, eh?

skye, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Skye, you haven't been considered a newbie since you've been here two years. If anyone out there doesn't understand that one, well, lets just say Skye is one of the real players.

Barb e (Barb e), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Or a real big dork! Heh.

skye, Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I figured our interactions were surely diseased - Major thanks for the notification Barb, and of course for your efforts - Go Barb! (For those who don't know, Peter Chung commented that Barb was his favourite contributor on the old forum.)

Sam G, Monday, 10 May 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

if anyone knows:

1. why was AF cancelled?

2. what have the creators been up to since?

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I goaded Peter into that statement, he was just being polite. There have been waaay better contributors to the forum in the past and now as well. When I first came the original people had some great things on board. I remember a detailed analysis of the episodes by about 4 or 5 people that was truly incredible. One of the members had a Ph.d in psychology and was a professor at a Californian University I think. Syra may remember, it might have been Ed Stastny. I came along because I was so impressed with those people. Of course Frostbite was around then too. She may in fact be Peter's actual favorite, if anyone.

Barb e (Barb e), Monday, 10 May 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Raymond, someone else will have to answer the first one, because I can't remember for sure why the series ended, I think it just had it's 'run' as all tv shows do, if they last 3 years that is considered a huge success in tv. The second one is a lot longer to answer. Peter has gone on to make several animations, Matriculated, a part of the Animatrix series which were animated films based on the world of The Matrix. Then there was Reign, about Alexander the great, which was an animated series in his own style, fabulously animated and shown on Adult Swim. John Lee was the voice of the vampire Meirier Link in Vampire Hunter D and wrote and starred in Breathing Hard which is available for rent through a company called Had to be Made. Julia Fletcher (voice of Scafandra and wife to Jack Fletcher) was in Vampire Hunter D and Reign (Cassandra). This list is by no means complete but it's all I can remember right now.

Barb e (Barb e), Monday, 10 May 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Cassandra in Reign was done by none other that Aeon Flux's Denise Poirier, who also appeared in Breathing Hard?

Julia Fletcher, on the other hand, has done some really great voice work since then, appearing in both Final Fantasy X games

John Rafter Lee (<3) was also Aristotle in Reign.

Most of the voice cast got on the Spawn TV series. It's been recommended to me many times, but I've never seen it, unfortunately.

skye, Monday, 10 May 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope, it was Julia Fletcher, as Carmilla and Jack Fletcher was also in it as Grove. http://www.vampirehunterdbloodlust.com But I've read places that Denise was in it which confuses me too, and I've also read she was in Princess Mononoke, is that true?

Barb e (Barb e), Monday, 10 May 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops you were talking about Reign, I'd love to know that because I've seen her listed as in that too. Was she?

Barb e (Barb e), Monday, 10 May 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Barb, are you talking about the episode guides from the now no more http://home.earthlink.net/~rach/aeon.htm ? Those were excellent, actually does anyone still have those? I never actually saved them.

Yeah, Denise is in Princess Mononoke - one of the town girls I think.

Sam G, Tuesday, 11 May 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve Rach Mirarchi was the guy, right?

Sam G, Tuesday, 11 May 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm I think so. Wish I kept a copy, darn. That link didn't get me there.

Barb e (Barb e), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

With compliments to Syra, taken from the other board:

"I decided to do some IMDB research on everyone's favorite people, the Aeon Flux staff. Here's what I found:

John Lee is the writer/producer/star of upcoming indie film "Breathing Hard". He plays a struggling playwright forced to chaffeur a cantankerous British actress.

Writer Eric Singer has the lead in made-for-video horror flick "Dreamwalkers".

Character artist & prop designer Osamu Tsuruyama did a samurai/ninja anime, "Akai Hayate", in `92, but nothing since (except for Aeon).

Utopia or... collaborator Shari Goodhartz has written "Dragonheart 2 - A New Beginning".

Todd French is presumably still writing for Cinefantastique.

Mark Mars is nowhere to be found; may have changed his name after that horrible Brian DePalma film.

Peter Gaffney writes for Daria, so if you hear a particularly witty line, it's probably his.

Well that's all I could dig up. Breathing Hard sounds cool, like a cross between "Barton Fink" and "Driving Miss Daisy", & is probably our best bet for more Fluxian screenwriting.

-- Paul (gilbreathfamil...), August 31, 2000"

Darn I miss Daria!

Barb e (Barb e), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Er... I think I had the wrong Eric Singer, way back then <_>

Eric had some writing collaboration with David "Fight Club" Fincher a while ago, but I don't know what happened with it.

(Dragonheart 2 was terrible... wtf)

Syra (Syra), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, Denise was in Reign, as one of the few female characters.

Unfortunately, her character gets about 5 seconds of talking total before the end of the 4th ep, at which point they changed all their voice actors for some godforsaken reason or another.

skye, Friday, 14 May 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Money. They wanted el cheapo voice actors.

And you mean Reign, unless you're being facetious. :>

Syra (Syra), Friday, 14 May 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

ACK! That was dumb of me. yes, my post was about Reign.

ARGH! where's the edit key. Or maybe the "kick me in the head I'm stupid" key.

skye, Saturday, 15 May 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, the lack of a preview function has bit us all...

Syra (Syra), Saturday, 15 May 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I took the liberty of making the correction so it now reads 'Reign', Skye. I didn't know I could do this but I can. I can delete your comments after too, but that would delete Syra's comment about the preview button which yeah would be nice. I wouldn't change peoples posts except if they asked me, and in this case I did it for 'practice' and you seemed to be asking. I don't want to be an uptight censor but it's nice to know how in case there are any 'weird' posts here, which are still a sore spot for me. *head jerks backwards at thought of last few months on old board and headache ensues.

Barb e (Barb e), Saturday, 15 May 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

hahah, just put a little "Edited by Barb" whenever you do something, and I think I'll be just fine with it.

As long as you don't go power mad, and decide that we should actually be talking about ponies...

skye, Sunday, 16 May 2004 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I solemly promise not to argue about the color of skeletons while they were in said ponies.

Barb e (Barb e), Monday, 17 May 2004 06:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Looking good in here... maybe I'll contribute more regularly this time around. :)

Ubik, Thursday, 20 May 2004 06:03 (twenty-one years ago)

three weeks pass...
I just want to clarify for anyone who might wonder; the old board on Lusenet was more than wonderful it nearly was a miracle of sorts, but since the columns have been ripped at the seams and even the moderator password has been broken into and rendered inoperable I can't even arrange that forum to take new columns. I originally got rid of the columns because that was being abused by the 'strangers' to the board, filling them with racist posts and occasional child porn. For anyone who is intersted I believe the oft posted link of letters stood for Palestinians that Have Control or something and it was a call to anyone who wanted child porn if they followed the link and requested it. My emails showed these posts to be from a neonazi group and a Palestinian group, and they weren't going to go away. I hope this place survives because the other one, favorite of all of ours that it was, will eventually not. The server is dying a long slow death, as attested to by it's creator Phillip Greenspun, who recommended this place to Lusenet forums that wished to outlive the old servers demise. I'm truly sorry it had to end that way, there were simply too many great conversations that took place there. I did copy them and if at any time anyone wants me to duplicate them hear I can.

Barb e (Barb e), Sunday, 13 June 2004 05:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops, I don't mean I got rid of the columns,I didn't do that. I mean I got rid of the opportunity to create new columns.

Barb e (Barb e), Sunday, 13 June 2004 05:24 (twenty-one years ago)

seven months pass...
Ahhhh, this feels more familiar.

Barb, you're not going to be censoring non-porno idle swearing, are you?

your hair is good to eat, Saturday, 29 January 2005 03:31 (twenty years ago)

two years pass...
Coo, what a place this is. Barb e, I take it you're the mod around here? Drop me a line would you? (Click on my name below and send me an email -- make sure to include a reply address please!)

.stet., Wednesday, 7 March 2007 02:54 (eighteen years ago)

Stet, why should I do that? I like my email address to be private here because of what went on. If you want to write me something private this forum allows you to send me a private email. At present, this forum now seems to be moderated by the owners of it, so I'm not the mod.

Barb e., Wednesday, 7 March 2007 20:19 (eighteen years ago)

Heh. Email sent.

.stet., Wednesday, 7 March 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

Hey stet, email not received.

Barb e., Sunday, 11 March 2007 23:15 (eighteen years ago)
