The Fog Of War/Touching The Void

Anyone see Touching The Void? I was impressed by the "grindhouse" techniques employed in that film: using sound editing, odd camera angles, ect. to bring us into that person's head. At times, the mix of elements brought me into a trance-like state.

The actors did a ridiculously good job, too. If you're sensitive to depictions of pain, do NOT watch this... TTV contains the most protracted, blood curdling screaming since Fire In The Sky. That, combined with the soundwork, makes for an eerie as hell atmosphere... it's a great *horror* film, and works on that level, while still giving a dry account of what happened. Quite a balance!

The Fog Of War was horrific, too, but for different reasons... it really impressed on me that our "best and brightest" don't have a clue, and couldn't work in our best interests if they wanted. But then I'm anarchist anyways, so I'm biased. ;P

Anyway, two great films, and ones I still think about from time to time.

three weeks pass...
all the Koyanisqatsi-lite stuff in The Fog Of War annoyed me, but the content was very interesting.

the interviewer has a funny voice.
