i was listening to the american breed and now i'm listening to the t-bones.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 14 May 2006 18:26 (eighteen years ago) link

now i'm listening to *The Nickel Bag* and their album *Doing Their Love Thing*. psych-pop/rock with music by the band and words by Elizabeth Browning, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Robert Burns, William Shakespeare, Emily Bronte, Omar Khayyam, William Wordsworth, and Rudyard Kipling. On Kama Sutra.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 14 May 2006 19:04 (eighteen years ago) link

You ever hear the Innocence album on Kama Sutra? I always figured it was like 1910 Fruitgum Co. - they do "Mairzy Doats." But it's not K&K - it's on Kama Sutra. Liner notes by R. Meltzer! I'd buy this copy if the person wasn't charging six dollars for shipping:

there's a couple good tunes on that kills record. what's bizarre to me is that she is whatshername from Discount, the mediocore punk band from gville. (well, some folks really liked discount... i remember the appeal of her, and thought some of the band members were nice punk rock soccer dudes, but that's it.)

silver apples, john cale and nico, beirut, sao paulo underground (rules)...

"I'd buy this copy if the person wasn't charging six dollars for shipping:"

i would never buy a record on ebay described as "fair". unless that person just doesn't know what "fair" is supposed to mean. cuz, in rekkerd lingo, fair is worse than good and good is pretty bad too.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 14 May 2006 20:47 (eighteen years ago) link

Right. I'd bet that one might be OK, though. If it was five or six dollars total plus shipping, I'd go for it.

BTW, the DAY AFTER I posted this, I got given a copy. I think there is a lurker to blame (i am detective sherlock q. johnson), but I could be wrong. The 2nd one is surprisingly... countrified. I don't think I like it nearly as much as the first one.

I saw them do the Rosemary's Baby theme as well, at the Grog Shop in cleveland. That was the show where at the end I was like, that was great, but I wished they played a few more classic faves of mine, like Narlus Spectre...and sure enough, 2 seconds later...
