the internet jukebox at one of the normal-ish DCILDRINX bars has a ton of impulse stuff (awful idea: including live in seattle), the entire jack johnson sessions box, and at least the first two blue cheer albums.

Yeah, well, I have NO IDEA why I thought some national music service would have the Bats/Pylon/Orange Juice/Pernice Bros/Richard Hell/Go-Betweens/Jonathan Richman or more than a cursory assortment of Kinks and it's pretty lame that I couldn't think of anything else, but I was like two-thirds in the bag!

great link, though rapidshare is like the worst of the filesharing sites

last I heard, wakhevitch was living on some remote island in the Pacific (or maybe India?), but really don't know anything. I got a friend of mine to translate the liner notes of the box for me, but it was very little bio, mostly stuff that would make Ian Penman's Scott Walker press stuff seem very straightforward

8 days in april has tons of great stuff too, though he needs to archive, page takes forever to load and it'll crash you on a slow system

rapidshare is definitely the worst, though it's the only one I know of that keeps files up indefinitely

It's pleasant. Sometimes the lyrics are a bit too earnest/clunky for my liking. Van Dyke Parks plays some nice harpsichord on one or two of the tracks.
