bell_labs, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 02:29 (seventeen years ago)

i never even got to go to pies n thighs :(

a friend of mine made pulled pork on sunday and it was really good. because he's also my co-worker (dude who got me the job aw yeah)i was there when he ordered the pork butt from the butcher. i giggled like an 8 yr old. then i went to wordreference.com and played the words pork and butt in both us and uk accents, many times. partly b/c he'd been playing 'fart' and 'crap' repeatedly earlier in the day. work lols!

you will all have to have pulled pork parties now

Jon Williams decided he likes Morrissey solo after all these years of disliking the Smiths.

"Native New Yorker" slams on the breaks of any disco comp (e.g. Rhino's Disco Queens: The '70s). That's cuz it's really TV theme music and even in that realm, it pales beside the likes of Good Times or Wonder Woman. If "Native New Yorker" is disco, then so is, oh I don't know, the theme from The Greatest American Hero (forget the actual title - "Believe or not I'm walking on air" blech!). (And both songs might be disco in some time/space continuum not my own.)

So I finally saw Red Dawn! And man, despite seeming to have a lot of criteria to qualify as BEST MOVIE EVER, it is a joyless, miserable ordeal. Not to mention the fact that, although they obviously didn't intend it at the time, the parallels to Iraq make it uncomfortable to watch now. Dud.

The new high def versions of TOS are actually really amazing. I was really worried about the new effects being cheesy, but they're amazingly faithful, even when totally different.

Out of the others, Sean Lennon obviously isn't up there with his dad, althogh I like "Saltwater", "Too Late For Goodbyes" and "Valotte".
