Okay that looks nothing like any pastrami I've ever eaten! That looks gorgeous. (xxpost)

Maybe just cos you're not doing it right (xpost)

kv_nol, Friday, 24 August 2007 15:42 (sixteen years ago) link

i want katz's this weekend.

lauren, Friday, 24 August 2007 15:47 (sixteen years ago) link

It's okay, kv, I don't think I'm very interested in pastrami either. And I'm DEFINITELY not interested in kosher-keeping delis or traditional "New York" kosher-style delies because I require cheese on my meat sandwiches. It's heathen, I know, but there you have it.

Laurel, Friday, 24 August 2007 15:50 (sixteen years ago) link

theres a pastrami place down the street from me called OINK ADMINISTRATOR

and what, Friday, 24 August 2007 15:50 (sixteen years ago) link

i want smoked meat

yeah i don't even think any of my posts here are actual cio posts

but hey - cio chasing down interviews with busy people. it is the hardest/most whiley part of journalism/writing ugh

kosher-style delis allow you to pollute your sandwiches with cheese, mayo, and any other debasements that you can think of, laurel.

lauren, Friday, 24 August 2007 15:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Bell noooo it's too early to start with the delicious meats GISing!

Jon Lewis, Friday, 24 August 2007 15:54 (sixteen years ago) link

i took a friend and some of his drunk visiting friends to Katz's. one of the girls was a vegan but she ordered the reuben anyway, she figured it was a once in a life experience. go her!

Now now, don't slander mayo -- it's perfectly kosher with meat, for some reason. Kosher eggs cannot have had any bloodspots on them, however, so one hopes the mayo is compliant.

many of my cios are just me being bemused at the world. i'm not much of a complainer these days -- one of my new year's resolutions that i've managed to keep for the most part.

carnegie deli? that place sucks, is a total tourist trap. tho maybe you're talking about something else, i dunno.

hstencil, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:33 (sixteen years ago) link

The matzo balls are the size of baseballs. Could be tourist trap but there haven't been many people in it the few times I've been there.

Jon Lewis, Friday, 24 August 2007 16:37 (sixteen years ago) link

the Carnegie Deli is in the 50s. I forget the name, the one JL means is on 44th or 45th on 8th Ave, lotta Broadway people lunch there.
