deeznuts, Monday, 17 March 2008 04:16 (seventeen years ago)

it was an ok party

J0rdan S., Monday, 17 March 2008 04:19 (seventeen years ago)

haha though having listened to it about 9x straight now i remember one of my earliest radio experiences w/ it, driving home from church & hearing it charting way high up on casey kasem's top 40 - my dad turned it off about 30 seconds in with an "ok, thats enough"

i tell a friend about it next day & he sez "you know what that songs about dont you?" "no." "TEEN DRUGS AND SEX." "what??" "yeah thats what they said on tv."

deeznuts, Monday, 17 March 2008 04:33 (seventeen years ago)

"ok, thats enough"

not gonna lie tho, that song totally ruled me in 10th grade or whatever

Did you see the thread on the noise board about how to romanize yamasucka augh?

Not romanization but the actual pronunciation!

the number of people who would vote for somebody just because he/she is black is probably roughly equal to the number of people who would vote for somebody just because she is female

No disrespect for the dead intended, but Barrett - great as he was / is - never wrote a song half as good as (robyn hitchcock's) "Madonna of the Wasps," friends.

Snidely Whiplash didn't have a dog, it was Dick Dastardly's dog Muttley on Wacky Races that did the stifled laugh.

who is the penelope pitstop of ilx

latebloomer, Thursday, 27 March 2008 13:58 (seventeen years ago)

uh well she was never caught, right?

gff, Thursday, 27 March 2008 14:02 (seventeen years ago)

Penelope was a traditional "damsel in distress" stock character as in the old serial The Perils of Pauline. Her catchphrase was "Help, help!" (spoken in an affected upper-class U.S. South accent, and pronounced "HAY-ULP!").

^^^ definitely a hoe that needed to be saved

Austin's claim to anything is pretty shaky, imo. There's no such thing as a native, nary a single style of music was "born" there, its claims to the contrary range between technically untrue to ludicrous, and hoo boy do Austinites get defensive when you point this out. Austin's not any kind of Music Capital, not an oasis of liberalism, it's just a fucking college town. With a HUGE chip on its shoulder.

I totally hate "The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch". Both on this and the second record Eno went with a chump track second, and it kills the momentum both times.
