Helios Creed (orion), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ME LACK SPACE... SOUNDS LIKE SUN RA

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I got the Recommended vinyl. Nice inserts.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not that impresssed with Faust. Am I a bad person?

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 14 October 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

have you listened to SO FAR?

Helios Creed (orion), Thursday, 14 October 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't like them as much as other Krautrock at first, and lately I'm becoming convinced that -if not the best Krautrock band - they're pretty fuckin close. Maybe it just takes longer to sink in on some people?

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 14 October 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Aaron, they were nowhere near as great as Can.

So Far is maybe their best.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 14 October 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

-if not the best Krautrock band - they're pretty fuckin close.
Yes Tim, I still rank Can ahead of them. I just don't think the gap is as wide as I used to.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 14 October 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Can is great, but overrated.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 14 October 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I think they are apples and oranges.

tasty, delicious apples and oranges.

Neu! is a pear, Cluster a pineapple.

The Amon Duuls are figs.

the rest are peanuts.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 14 October 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Amon Duul 1 & 2 are way better than the rest, and I don't like figs.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 14 October 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I've only heard Archangels Thunderbird but that song rulez

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 14 October 2004 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Kraftwerk are those plastic oranges they used to sell at amusement parks that are filled with chemically processed orange-flavored "juice".

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 14 October 2004 23:26 (twenty-one years ago)

OTM! I remember those!

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 14 October 2004 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

haha "figs"

Sonny, Ah!!1 (Sonny A.), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i've never warmed to Amon Düül. what's my problem??? i own Phallus Dei, Wolf City & Viva la Trance???

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 15 October 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

'Yeti' is often called the strongest but if you don't like anything on any of those, I wouldn't bother. ADII not for everyone. I prefer ADI's 'Psychedelic Underground', much more of a raving hippie tribal noise record.

(Jon L), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe that's what i need. i always hear the new boredoms compared to them and i've never ever heard it

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

they just sounded like a prog rock band with a kinda annoying german girl singer to me

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe i really need to relisten?

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Amon Duul only made sense one time when i was really high. Like, really high.

Sonny, Ah!!1 (Sonny A.), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously, I almost died. I was so high.

Sonny, Ah!!1 (Sonny A.), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

they're okay. ADI's 'Psychedelic Underground' is a precedent for both the new Boredoms and also Super Roots 5 and Super AE, but it's a raggedy, insanely lo-fi mad recording.

Faust is still my favorite band in the entire world, hearing them in 1986 at age 16 maybe had something to do with it. I load the albums into Pro Tools just to stare at the waveforms sometimes and figure out where some of the submixed loop points are.

(Jon L), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

(haven't done that for some years now, actually. have found most of those loop points.)

(am loser.)

(Jon L), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Amon Duul II were pretty great. You SHOULD listen to Phallus Dei again sometime, Jason. They were prog, but raunchy, and "filled with to the moon madness" (that's a Julian Copeism, duders).

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 16 October 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

awesome Tim Ellison and I can agree on something!

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 16 October 2004 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...
There is something so awesome that happens in "The Lurcher" around 6:20 onward and just is really like the best music ever.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 8 February 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

RIP HOLLY AND AARONHZ AND ANNA NICOLE SMITH

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Thursday, 8 February 2007 22:07 (eighteen years ago)
