it belongs to my former keyboard player. this price seems reasonable to me. but I also know nothing about keyboards or synths or even electricity.

will it go burbly-burbly-burbly or buzz-buzz-buzz?

Eh... for one it's not very versatile.

ideally (based on the very short conversations we've had about music) you'd probably be in the market for a minimoog.

I say no. The Rogue is one of the most basic moog's out there, for that kind of money you can get a much more powerful/versatile synthesizer. You may even be able to find something like a Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 or Roland Juno-106, both of which let you play more then one note at a time(6!), save your sounds, and feature midi, all of which the Rogue does not.

I learned the easy way that not all Moogs are desirable after I bought a Minit Moog (not Mini) for 20 bucks at a pawn shop. It was terrible, made one interesting sound. I sold it to a keyboard geek for 150 bucks.

Shit, buy a Realistic/Moog MG-1 before you buy a Rogue. Very similar sound engine, usually can find 'em for about $100-150 used.
