trigonalmayhem (trigonalmayhem), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I need Jon's telephone #. I lost 350#s... :-(

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I would have called him during "Be Sure To ROOPOOPOOP" and he would have heard not a thing. Ian's phone actually picks that livesound up.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

BE SURE TO LOOP IS A GOOD SONG, GYGAX. i will email you jon's numberrrrrr

SO MAD I AM MISSING OOIOO

Spinning Down Alone You Spin Alive (ex machina), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't like their version of LOOP that much but was glad they played it.

jushinthunderliger (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah it was short and rushed.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Also the drums were kind of funky. It ruined the krautness that I so desire.

jushinthunderliger (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what I meant when I was talking about differences between Yoshiko and Ai. Next time DMBQ come to USA, you should go check them out DEAN (only if you are comfortable with occasional full frontal male nudity).

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Gygax, you should not be nude in public.

jushinthunderliger (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you know that Eye's sister is named "Ai[something]"

Spinning Down Alone You Spin Alive (ex machina), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

When are you coming to SF?

(only if you are comfortable with occasional full frontal male nudity).

Yes, I read Boredoms articles in the Wire too JW.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I saw that in the liner notes of a YS cd

DONT READ THE WIRE BECAUSE I DONT SUPPORT ENGLAND

Spinning Down Alone You Spin Alive (ex machina), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

What's your IM?

and i already have your # in my phone for some reason.

A. BORRELLI (A. BORRELLI), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

five years pass...

I have really become a hueg fan of the Ofege album released on Ac4d3my LP5.

I would like to support this business and buy all three albums on the reissue label.

Do I buy them on vinyl or CDs?

CDs arguments:
-Cheaper
-Will have perfect, 320kbps "digital copy" for iPod/iPhone forever withough having to back up hard drive
-Takes up less space
-Other two aren't on eMusic
-I assume if these things are "remastered" in anyway, it's gonna be digital remastering and CD/vinyl will probably sound the same
-Vinyl "reissues" are not really like owning the original record

Vinyl argument:
--Vinyl is cool and fun
--It;s appealing to play an old record on an old format
--Maybe it was remastered from vinyl and sounds better?
--More money going to Academy LPs who I'd like to support

Please help.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Sunday, 24 January 2010 20:05 (sixteen years ago)

It was mastered from vinyl, but I'm not 100% sure the process was entirely analog. Tim Warren at Crypt did the mastering, and imo he does a really good job. That is for the Ofege release. IIRC the mastering for the two more recent releases was done elsewhere, but I can't think of the name right now. To be honest, however, there is not a noticeable difference between the LP and CD in terms of sound quality.

in terms of cost, you can come by any time I'm at work and I can give you CDs for free, because I have a some available for promotional use. or you can buy the LPs and i'll still give you the CDs! or w/e. i think we might be almost out, if not entirely out, of the Ofege CD. our CD pressings are smaller than our LP pressings.

(p.s. not at work til tuesday.)

Joint Custody (ian), Sunday, 24 January 2010 20:25 (sixteen years ago)

Ha, free is the obvious choice, tbh

I was just in Ac4d3my on Friday and was lookin for u, hoping i remembered what u looked like from our two v. brief meetings.

I bought a bunch of rap LPs including Boogie Boys, Jaz-O and Gettovetts. And a Wolf Eyes CD used.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Sunday, 24 January 2010 20:40 (sixteen years ago)

oh, i was there 2-10 on friday, but hiding in the back or out or something probably.

Joint Custody (ian), Sunday, 24 January 2010 21:01 (sixteen years ago)

I'd assume the mastering was not entirely analog. I don't think it ever is anymore.

dan selzer, Sunday, 24 January 2010 21:54 (sixteen years ago)

right. the last records that were an entirely analog process that i remember seeing were the Low LPs on kranky, which advertised specifically the AAA methodology. most things are ADA.
