sweet potatoessssssssss.

Ian John50n (orion), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Here's a real simple White Castle stuffing recipe sexyDancer. I usually use that many Whiteys, but then about an equal portion of a traditional breadcrumby dealie, so it's not quite so White Castley. It's pretty kickass.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

245th it is. Maybe we should start an ILE thread about it? Or is it "noise dudes only"?

nah, it's open to anybody.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

best e-mail ever! my mom got this back from cousins coming for thanksgiving:

Hi Sue

On the matter of carving, I think Bob would be happy to do it. It would be good however if everyone could refrain from snickering when Bob sets up to do it. He has a large collection of Ginsu knives carefully arrayed in a large custom made, leather bound box. He has ordered many of these knives from the ads on those late, late night action movies. Others have been donated by friends who know of his particular passion for cutlery.

The assorted knives are fitted into cushioned spaces and are arrayed by notonly size and shape and but metallurigcal makeup. This box has a special table on cushioned wheels so that it can be brought right up to the table for a last minute selection of the appropriate cutting tool.

After a short, silent ritual he opens the box, and selects the appropriate tool and begins to slice and dice, a cute smile playing on his face as these magnificent tools slice into sumptuously-cooked flesh.

Unfortunately, if folks snicker, Bob gets grumpy and self-conscious and his accuracy diminishes significantly. The meat looks hacked and most unappetizing. At our own table at home we are even missing a
a couple of chunks of woods from the table edge. Several years ago at Thanksgiving gathering a good friend sprayed wine, he was laughing so hard at poor Bob. That was tense!

Anyhow, just a little forewarning....Bob would love to carve!

i work tomorrow, and my closest family is too far to visit after work. so my dream scenario is that we will bring someone's elderly relative back to their nice, clean home during thanksgiving dinner, and the family will be so delighted that they will offer some of their scrumptious meal to us nice young men. We'll politely refuse at first, but upon their insistence, we'll give in. "Oh, okay, but just a little!" It will have to be a brief stay cuz we'd be on the clock and everything, but on the way out, the family will insist that we take a plate of food with us. my plate will be handed to me by the gorgeous daughter, who also slyly slips her phone number to me along with the plate. I call her after I get off work. We share some turkey and mashed potatoes, have a couple glasses of wine, and then have sex.

Lingbert, Thursday, 22 November 2007 06:58 (eighteen years ago)

I am basically terrified of the uh polar bear. Hero. Jody, speaking of heroes your culinary efforts today are amazing. I'm not even going to have time to make a pie, altho I'm thinking of throwing a quiche in the oven just for my breakfast, and to eat on the train....

I didn't cook yesterday and didn't bring any leftovers home, so I'm craving mashed potatoes and a roast all over again. So I decided on enough mashed to feed about five people (from scratch) and a london broil and sauteed green beans for dinner. Then this weekend mebbe I make mashed potato pancakes.
