No mention on ILM, has anyone ever heard this?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope, have you? I would get it if I saw it.

I was always disappointed when I discovered in was manGUM and not Magnum.

I really like it. I have a burnt copy somewhere, and I always enjoy it when I dig it out. There's a surreal quality to the way it's collaged together, but it's still respectful, I think. What I mean to say is that it's trippy.

i agree with sonny

sorry, my "wait, what?" was in reaction to jel. i'm really surprised that he spells his name that way.

this sounds really cool btw. i've heard some weird russian and bulgarian folk in the past and was always interested in hearing more.

JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Does John Coltrane Dream of a Merry-go-round? (ex machina), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Ian John50n (orion), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

a little birdie whispered in my ear that jeff mangum was in the record store the other day buying $0.50 LPs of Bulgarian folk.

Ian John50n (orion), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

$.50 < $1000 plane tix to bulgaria?

msp (msp), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If he was in the Sun City Girls this would be better received.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:07 (twenty years ago)

msp (mspa), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:24 (twenty years ago)

if corny indie fucks cared about ethnomusicology, this would be better received.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:27 (twenty years ago)

if corny indie fucks cared about actual good music, ILM would be better received.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:30 (twenty years ago)

ive always thought it was damned interesting.

theres a used copy at om right now...well there was on tuesday night..in used world

bb (bbrz), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:31 (twenty years ago)

i never got this when going through my NMH phase in 9th/10th grade. i bet it would be most cost effective to buy about 4 nonesuch/bargain world records instead.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:32 (twenty years ago)

what makes one item greater than the other?
m.

msp (mspa), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:42 (twenty years ago)

not necessarily judging quality, here.. just that i could get more bang for my buck by buying 4 (or 3 or whatever it works out to) used LPs rather than one new CD.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:43 (twenty years ago)

the choices made and, ultimately, the person making the choices.

Jack Cole (jackcole), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:43 (twenty years ago)

variety is a big plus for me, too. i don't want 40 minutes of the same thing, typically.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:59 (twenty years ago)

the one track nature is kinda frustrating for those of us with the short attention spans...but thres variety on there. i should dig it up when i get home...

picked up some yoruba field recordings (from hati, brasil, cuba, and trinidad) on tues...its the good stuff

bb (bbrz), Thursday, 12 January 2006 19:04 (twenty years ago)

Why does every thread always have to get so RACIAL?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 12 January 2006 19:07 (twenty years ago)

college ruins everything

Jack Cole (jackcole), Thursday, 12 January 2006 19:08 (twenty years ago)

i picked up some field recordings ... from the DIASPORA
