Ian John50n (orion), Sunday, 21 November 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

dooooood

scott, I don't have a will but if I ever make one I will totally bequeath you all my hard and hairy rock stuff. My brother would have no use for that stuff. He doesn't really like hard rock. He's more into jam bandy stuff. But I would probably have to give him my jazz records. My parents would probably be upset with me if I didn't at least slide those over to him... Ian, you can have the 20th century classical stuff. but seriously, I don't want to die!!!!! I choose life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a man of the people, it's true! JaXoN, my actual real first name is indeed Rob, but my last name is not Cohen. I am in fact a goy. I am not familiar with Craig Le Roq. I do remember you starting that thread actually, and it piqued my interest, but yeah as far as I know I've never actually heard the guy. Was this on the Suburbs are Killing Us that you got the tracks? That guy is an ex-Michigander and a Mojo fan...

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 10 February 2005 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

aha! it was in fact the Suburbs are Killing Us blog that i saw that. i just re-read it and it looks as if he's a current dj and not an old 80s musician. whatever music he's making sure is killer.

Heh. Pretty sweet stuff. A very, ah, faithful evocation of that particular era....

Hey JaXoN I was DustyGroove last weekend and I thought of you when I saw these two compilations they had:

http://www.dustygroove.com/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/dga/search.cgi?usersrch=nighttime+lovers&issearch=yes

They seem like they might be up your alley (although I see they seem to be temporarily out of that second one already). I remember you had started a thread about early-80s soul/funk stuff. I haven't heard of any of the people on these things! They could be amazing, who knows? I almost bought one but I was already buying way too much crap as it is. But I put them on my wishlist...

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 10 February 2005 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

rad, i've haven't heard of any of those artists except for Kano. i'm gonna get to researching/downloading. thanks.

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 10 February 2005 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

aw, you thought of me when you were record shopping

ps. do you think those cds are "righteous"?

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 10 February 2005 05:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Stormy!

Have you ever heard of a Gato Barbieri album called I've Got a Flat Tire on My Ass? I got it at a thriftshop in Connecticut in the 80s and lost it during one of my many moves. I remember the cover had a really cheap, early 70s independent release look to it, like something on Olivia Records. And the title song took up an entire side and went something like

We bought a Pinto
Next time we will buy a mule
We bought a Pinto
Next time we will buy a mule
Hey baby-
I'VE GOT A FLAT TIRE ON MY ASS!

Google doesn't turn up anything. It's not listed on his website's discography. Did I dream this album? Was it by some other Latin jazz guy? What do you think?

Guitarthur & the Ecstasy Defecators (Arthur), Thursday, 10 February 2005 05:59 (twenty-one years ago)
