Let me tell you a story.
This story begins in June, when Laura gave me a TV that used to reside in her closet. Today I finally moved that TV from the doorway to the TV-supporting chest of drawers. The impetus for the move was the previous TV (as well as the cable box) being fried in a thunderstorm recently. At any rate, this TV sucks, Laura. It turns off by itself. Sometimes trying to change the channel turns it off. Sometimes the volume controls will turn it off. Sometimes I will be sitting ten feet away and it will turn off. Are there tricks?

Furthermore, the only fucking VHS tapes my mother has worth watching are of PRINCESS DIANA'S FUNERAL. I mean, wtf, do I want to watch Thelma & Louise? Backdraft? The Wizard of Oz (this may have been the better choice, in retrospect)? Beethoven? Sense & Sensibility?

So Diana's funeral it is. the fuck

The Princess of hearts.

She died the night I was having my only good birthday party. Sigh. All these girls came out of the pub going: Princess Diana's dead. Me: So????????????????????????????? Who cares? Let's drink!

I am sorry. :( That TV's story began when I lent my very fine and functional TV to my friend Emily at Brown, but she knocked the picture tube loose and gave me the one you have today in trade.

Tips: Check to see if the power button is partially depressed. That may cause some of the random powering off. Also, do you have a universal remote to use with it? If not that might fix the problem, because it's too touchy to actually press the buttons manually.

I should've let you borrow my big TV while I am in Japan. Or the (functional) one with the loose picture tube. You can still borrow either one if you want to drag it to NY from my parents' basement.

I was visiting my sister and her husband in North Carolina when Di died. My brother-in-law and I were smoking pot and drinking beer and we saw it on CNN and we wondered whether we should wake my sister up and tell her, but we didn't. We knew that she got really upset over stuff like that. So we waited till morning to tell her. She got really sad. Then two months later my sister died. So whenever the anniversary of Di's death comes up I remember that time in North Carolina. :(

Do I know how to kill a thread or what!!!??? It's all good! But you should never get too bummed out when one of your fave celebrities dies cuz you never know when your number might be up and that's just wasted time you coulda been using to party hearty!!!

My dad buys the weirdest dvds ever. The Princess Diaries, Shaolin Soccer, Pearl Harbor, A View from the Top, Evolution, Freaky Friday. We went to my brother's/sister in law's house for dinner because they will actually cook things that have taste. They gave my mother a huge container to take home. I woke up this morning and I find it gone. My mother then come inside from the backyard after burying it all in the garden!!! She then tries to tell me that there was only sweet potato skins in the container. BUT SHE HATES PEOPLE EATING FOOD and hides in it the refridgerator!!! WHO IS SHE HIDING IT FROM???? I am going to watch Freaky Friday, I think.

I told her I was going to find it and dig it up with a shovel. She started yelling at me.

i'm still not clear on why she buried it instead of just throwing it away?

I put this on the wisdom heard at Thanksgiving ILE thread. She also said at the Thanksgiving table full of 10 people: "WHY YOU EATING SO MUCH TURKEY? THIS IS WHY NO ONE WANTS TO MARRY YOU." (say it with a chinese accent)
