I knew a girl about ten years ago and she said this was her favorite band. She lived with her parents (well, sure, she was 17 and I was 16) who let her paint her room deep brown! She had a book on her shelf called &91;Sic&93; that was a facsimile of some guy's handwritten novel manuscript. And she played me Millions Now Living Will Never Die, which sounded unlike anything else I had heard at the time, and I had to go and get it.

Then I met up with her again five or six or seven years later and I asked her about Mr. T Experience and reminded her that they were her favorite band, and she did not remember that at all. One time I was in a tree and she was below, and she said she was never happy, and she wasn't sure she knew what happiness was. She said she didn't remember that, either.

An ex boyfriend put a MTX song on a mixtape he made for me when we first started going out ... i think the tape was all songs from things he had on vinyl, and also included Crucifucks, Trenchmouth, Dickies and The Chills, including the song "This is the Way" which has the line "surely someone cares for you/someone you won't despise" which came to make me cry, because that was one of his major problems in relationships.

Thinking no one cared for him? Or despising everyone?

though he despised most of the people who disliked him as well. He'd meet someone, think they were awesome, get to know them better, develop contempt.

Hm. Yeah, that's tough. I had an angry friend like that until about 21 and then she stopped "taking me back" for whatever slight thing it was I had done. I have a sort of friend, certainly a friend of a friend, who pretty well feels contempt for nearly everyone, but he doesn't start shit with his own friends.

But I do know what it's like to be so depressed that you start pushing the people who care away and then they're confused about how to deal with you.

Haha, so many MTX songs are inappropriate for gf mixtape, especially if they have the word 'girlfriend' in the title.

xp - i don't know if he was depressed at all ...he was weird, he had a number of friends that he was pretty loyal to, but they were all pretty casual, like nothing too intimate, just drinking/partying/hanging out friends. But he couldn't stay in a romantic relationship for more than a year, because of the familiarity --> contempt thing.

I honestly hadn't thought about MTX in years but that cassette tape thread put this song in my head and I realized I still knew all the words. Weird. They remind me of being 17 and really innocent and optimistic about . . . everything. I also had an awesome MTX shirt around that time but have absolutely no idea what happened to it.
