MC with New York for New Yorkers? - 28Reply to: anon-54644942@craigslist.orgDate: 2005-01-06, 10:44AM EST
Dear fellow New Yorkers -
This year, I have decided to become more politically active in our fair city, to face some of the issues that impact our lives every day and to take a stand against them, in whatever way I can. Since I am ineligible to run for public office due to my criminal record, I must act in the ways granted to every citizen - by sending messages to our elected leaders, by voting along the issues, and by organizing my fellow citizens to do the same.
My first cause of the New Year is the 2005 NEW YORK CITY VISITOR BEHAVIOR INITIATIVE. This initiative, in response to certain actions by the city that blatantly favor tourists over residents (proposed MTA fare hikes on one-month cards, used by comuters, to stabilize prices on one-day "fun passes" uses by tourists, for example), will present an additional revenue stream for the city by levying a system of fines upon visitors whose behavior physically or mentally affects the lives of people who live and work in New York. For example:
$500 fine per person for eating at a restaraunt that they could have eaten at at home (Olive Garden, Appelbee's, Wendy's, et cetera).
$500 fine for visiting the WTC site, $1000 fine per piece of merchandise purchased there.
All non-food merchandise sold within a 6-block radius of Times Square will bear a 30% sales tax.
Some of the funds raised by this program will be earmarked for educational initiatives, such as a mandatory 20-minute walking class given to all disembarking passengers who fail to show a NY State ID card at JFK, LaGuardia or Newark (if the state of New Jersey agrees) - covering proper pace and group arrangement on sidewalks, clearing doorways and subway turnstiles to let people through, et cetera.
I am planning a PUBLIC PROTEST the first Saturday in February. Please email me if you would like to participate - and please feel free to post your additional ideas for this initiative here.

Hey, ladies! I've got one Arcade Fire ticket left for Irving Plaza and I'm willing to give it up -- for free! Here's the deal:
I am a straight-up, totally normal white dude. Hedge Fund wizard by day, Spuds McKenzie by night!!! :) I'm in pretty damn good shape, if I do say so myself -- hit NYRC at least three times a week! 29 years old, brown hair, brown eyes and a sparkling smile!
I am NOT looking for sex. Just a fun, ATTRACTIVE lady who wants to accompany me to the concert, maybe dance with me during said concert, and go out for at least 1 (one) drink post-show. In other words, if you're just planning on ditching me during the show this is not going to work -- it happened to me at the Strokes show at MSG theater so I'm going to be pretty vigilant about this. In other words, I WILL be accompanying you to the lady's room if and when you decide to powder your nose. (Not saying I'll follow you INTO the ladies room, natch -- unless you'd be into that!!! Just kidding!!!) I hope this doesn't come off as overly anal, it's just that I've been treated really bad in the past and want to have a GOOD TIME AT THIS SHOW!!! These guys are so sweet and I need to just have a fun night out, what with the Tsunami (HORRIBLE!) and the dollar devaluing (UH-OH)!God, this post is way too long, I know, but I just wanted to set the parameters for this FREE ticket so we're both totally on the same page. So if you're an attractive lady who wants to have fun at probably the most RIPPIN' concert of 2005, and not just cut and run after the show but humor me with at least 1 (one) drink, maybe at Crowbar or Bungalow 5, just email me with a photo attached. Doesn't have to be full body pic, but, ya know, couldn't hurt! ;)I'll be letting people know by next week!RAWK!!
