seven years pass...

Is anyone watching the telenovela about Pablo Escobar? It's really good! High production values (comparatively), decent acting.

Also look at this guy

MIAMI – June 28, 2012 – Taped in HD with a cinematic edge, “Pablo Escobar, el Patrón del Mal” (Pablo Escobar, The Drug Lord), a Spanish-language television production about the life of one of the most-wanted drug lords in history, premieres on Telemundo Monday, July 9 at 10 pm/9c. This series, told from the point of view of victims, will recount Escobar’s humble origins and early delinquent days through his world-wide recognition as one of the most hunted men in cartel history. For more information, visit www.nbcumv.com, www.telemundo.com/PabloEscobar and follow us on Twitter: @TLMDMediaPR, @PatronDelMalTV, and Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PatronDelMal.

---> For the first time ever on television, the detailed story of Pablo Escobar will be told in a series created by Juana Uribe and Camilo Cano, whose families were both affected by Escobar’s dominion. Based on the book “La Parábola de Pablo,” this production will showcase Escobar’s family life, business partnerships, limitless cruelty, and sharp ability to blur borders, design routes and export huge amounts of cocaine to Europe and the United States. This man, who killed judges, journalists, magistrates, ministers and presidential candidates, also made four presidents’ terms a living nightmare, infiltrated authorities and defied the world.

Written by Juan Camilo Ferrand (El Cartel), the series is shot in more than 450 locations in Medellin, Bogota and Miami. “Pablo Escobar, el Patrón del Mal” features a strong cast of actors, including Colombian stars Andres Parra as Pablo Escobar and Angie Cepeda as his mistress Regina Parejo. Rounding out the cast are: Cecilia Navia, Linda Lucia Callejas, Vicky Hernández, Christian Tappan, Juan Sebastian Calero, Mauricio Mejia, Nicolás Montero, Marcela Gallego, Ernesto Benjumea, Diana Hoyos, German Quintero, Helena Mallarino, Toto Vega, Anderson Ballesteros, Marcela Vargas, Luces Velazquez, Alejandro Gutierrez, Giovani Alvarez, Andrea Gomez, Carlo Benjumea, Cesar Mora, Alejandro Martinez and Juancho Arango.
Through www.Telemundo.com/PabloEscobar viewers will be able to obtain exclusive content of “Pablo Escobar, El Patrón del Mal,” including photo galleries, behind-the-scenes and videos not seen on television.

you'll never know until you try! there's always closed captioning. also watching an awesome tv show is a great way to practice listening.

i'm a little worried it'll get cartoonish, but so far the tone is really super serious. i love this show.

My friend's stepfather is (or was) in witness protection and was an accountant for the Medellín cartel in the early 80s. I've only met the guy a handful of times, but it's pretty crazy.
