scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

are you supposed to sit down and listen to a box set in one sitting or eat it in pieces here and there like a box of bon bons?

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 19:04 (twenty years ago)

watching the dvd in one sitting does take fortitude. i've watched hundreds of hours of video and been subjected to countless live shows, so i'm immune, but for the layperson...

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

That really is the perfect review for that box set.

American Apparel and Jeanne-Claude (deangulberry), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 19:10 (twenty years ago)

i saw the 2.1 earlier today... kinda said "figures" and moved on. but wow, the review really turns it up, don't it?

"It's difficult to imagine anyone but the most rabid 30 or 40 aficionados of American pop culture arcana and rock so obscure it barely qualifies as underground finding much worth in this nonetheless lovingly compiled collection, even with its (low by collectors' standards) $17 price tag."

nice to be tagged as a rabid aficionado. that was probably the best bargain of $16 spent last year. shit, i did i forget the bunnybrains box in my top list? crunk.

I think that review is perfect. If they branded it as good or enjoyable, the usual Pitchfork reader might think that it's something they should buy, which is not true. Anyone who is at all into this type of music probably already knows about the box set or would gather from the review that it is the type of thing that they might like and would be worth getting.

American Apparel and Jeanne-Claude (deangulberry), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

It's only $17? Damn, I'll get one then...

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

all i want is bitches, big booty bitches!
