caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:17 (twenty years ago)

you're too good for him

.adam (nordicskilla), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:19 (twenty years ago)

I like Medulla, it's probably her most noize album!

.adam (nordicskilla), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:20 (twenty years ago)

once upon a time a very young adam went on a date with a girl to a bjork concert and got very drunk and doesn't remember much but that the girl had to kind of carry him home, or at least to the train station.

.adam (nordicskilla), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:21 (twenty years ago)

I like Bjork. There's a certain kinda scream thing she does on some songs that is kinda noizey.

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:21 (twenty years ago)

this is all good news (sorry to hear about your date, though, adam). he rikes me! this morning we talked about number theory and cryptography and russia.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:25 (twenty years ago)

sorry to hear about your date, though, adam

This would have been...11 years ago, I'm over it.

.adam (nordicskilla), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:25 (twenty years ago)

I saw her live doing her album before Medulla and she was most certainly not noize. Medulla is pretty noize though.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:31 (twenty years ago)

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:42 (twenty years ago)

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 14 January 2005 00:56 (twenty years ago)

i am not familiar with bjork. i think i've only heard "human behavior" (??? that is a song of hers, no???). i am an alternative music ignoramus.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 14 January 2005 01:08 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, with the tympani/bass loop hook.

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Friday, 14 January 2005 01:16 (twenty years ago)

"Hyper Ballad" is pretty noise. You'd like it, Gygax.

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Friday, 14 January 2005 01:28 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it's about throwing things off a cliff. Car parts, bottles, cutlery....whatever she finds lying about.

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Friday, 14 January 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

Then she fantasizes about jumping. It's a really uplifting song!

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Friday, 14 January 2005 01:47 (twenty years ago)

Don't forget to read Bjork's favorite book while you listen:

i like bjork

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 14 January 2005 03:00 (twenty years ago)

i went through a big bjork phase in high-school. freshman year at nyu, all my bjork & morrissey cd's were stolen by some OTHER fag while i left them unattended. probably for the best, though.

i like the parts of medulla with mike patton.

related: i prefer patton's ADULT THEMES FOR VOICE for greater V0C4L N01Z3 value

andrew l. r. (allocryptic), Friday, 14 January 2005 04:04 (twenty years ago)

Never, ever listen to music that a boy tells you to.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 14 January 2005 04:11 (twenty years ago)

UNLESS IT'S MERZBOW OMGWTFLOL

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Friday, 14 January 2005 04:23 (twenty years ago)

i'm not sure why i shouldn't listen to music a boy tells me to. i'm going to anyway so we'll hve something to discuss other than MATH. i might have spelled a lot of things wrong in this post because my glasses got all wet in the rain and i took them off. i can't see anything! also my apartment smells very stongly of alcoholf ro some reason!!!!!111 omg.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Friday, 14 January 2005 04:43 (twenty years ago)

msp (msp), Friday, 14 January 2005 18:40 (twenty years ago)

I think I like "Homogenic" the best but I've only heard the first 3 CDs, not counting "Telegram".
"Life's Too Good" and "Stick Around For Joy" by the Sugarcubes are pretty good, too.

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Friday, 14 January 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

Never, ever listen to music that a boy tells you to.

Oh go away and listen to some French music or something!!

.adam (nordicskilla), Friday, 14 January 2005 20:17 (twenty years ago)

I like bork

Riot Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 14 January 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

There's that one song on Medulla with those inuit girls that Dan Perry described as sounding like "gremlins taking Bjork up the ass" or something. I'd say that's pretty |\|01Z3.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 14 January 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

Allyzay, let's you and me go and listen to my Adam Ant and Falco records.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 15 January 2005 03:11 (twenty years ago)

you like ADAM

Awesome Welles (nordicskilla), Saturday, 15 January 2005 06:30 (twenty years ago)

I like Mork from Ork.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 15 January 2005 06:53 (twenty years ago)

I like Borgs.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 15 January 2005 06:54 (twenty years ago)

Medulla is pretty damn awesome

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Saturday, 15 January 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

i don't hate this at all. i could do without a few of the songs and i really like a few others.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Saturday, 15 January 2005 23:37 (twenty years ago)

You are "so not noize". How's the new Interpol?

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Saturday, 15 January 2005 23:45 (twenty years ago)

SUCKS

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Saturday, 15 January 2005 23:52 (twenty years ago)

YEAH YOU WOULD

andrew l. r. (allocryptic), Sunday, 16 January 2005 00:53 (twenty years ago)

well
yes
I would

MY FAVOURITE LIGHTER IS CHEESEBURGER (trigonalmayhem), Sunday, 16 January 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

The Killers >>> Interpol

(Based on my studies so far.)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 16 January 2005 01:09 (twenty years ago)

the killers > nothing

chaki in charge (chaki), Sunday, 16 January 2005 01:12 (twenty years ago)

IF YOU MEAN BY THIS THAT WHEN I FEEL LIKE LISTENING TO THE KILLAZ I WOULD RATHER LISTEN TO THE KILLAZ THAN DO NOTHING, THEN YOU ARE CORRECT!

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 16 January 2005 02:27 (twenty years ago)

have a yellow card, fucko

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Sunday, 16 January 2005 02:35 (twenty years ago)

I heard you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
I had
who listened to shitty music

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Sunday, 16 January 2005 04:27 (twenty years ago)

...or something like that.

I would rather listen to Cage's "4'33" than:

1. The Killers

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Sunday, 16 January 2005 04:31 (twenty years ago)

tr, I lost my Falco album :( :( Saddest day of my life.

Allyzay Highlights The Fallacy of Radiohead (allyzay), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:16 (twenty years ago)

the killers sound like THE FAINT, quoth a friend of mine. I wouldn't know; I have never listened to the faint except jw made me listen to that sonic youth cover once. shit was GHEY.

Ian John50n (orion), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

do actual people really listen to the killers even?

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:38 (twenty years ago)

You're the one who goes to RIT; you tell me.

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

I think what it comes down to is whether you find them enjoyably amusing or not. I think Jack Cole's comment on the Killers thread that I started about the Killers being noise to him was apposite, in a way. For me, the more I looked at them, the more I appreciated the dude for being an enjoyable spaz.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

the only thing i know from going here is that real people listen to maroon 5.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

Do jon or caitlin work at the COLLEGE RADIO STATIONS? you guys should. Maybe they suck now, I don't know. I used to listen to both Rochester college radio stations when I was a kid. First place I ever heard Sonic Youth and The Fall!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

I actually didn't mind the Killers, but i only heard the album the one time. They had a decent rhythm section at least. And cool keyboard sounds. The singer was definitely annoying though. Why must the singer position sink so many potentially decent bands?

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 16 January 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

both of our radio stations are the worst. sometimes on the rit station i've heard things that are ok, but it's very sporadic. on saturdays there's always some dorky kids playing parodies and "funny" songs. also there's lots of shitty r&b all the time. the u of r station plays john mayer and maroon 5 a lot. its only redeeming factor is npr news in the evening. there is also a non-college independent station that everyone thinks is FUCKING GREAT and it's HORRIBLE.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

you mean BER right?

Wrur has some ok shows sometimes but most of the cool djs graduated.

My friend Jul1a Ma3 W3st got in trouble for playing Black Dice on WITR. She used Mae as her DJ name. You might know her Caitlin!

WRUR sucks now because they use a computer automated playlist of shit during the day because there aren't enough djs. :/ Bullshit with the administration.

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

BER is basically summed up by bands mentioned in the first post here:

Bands that the noise board hates that I have NEVER heard

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:17 (twenty years ago)

Well, that's disappointing. I should have known. Lots of college stations blow these days.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

nine months pass...
i just want to say that the drawing restraint 9 soundtrack is pretty goddamn noize.

sugarpants: like throwing gold at platinum. (sugarpants), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

Munki (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

haven't heard the CD yet. saw a rough cut of the film and liked it a lot, romantic with knives.

milton parker (Jon L), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 02:20 (twenty years ago)

we normals have to wait a year to see this film!

Munki (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 03:02 (twenty years ago)
