hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 09:30 (twenty years ago)

I need relief, I was injured tonite by a flying off piece of a grinder wheel that broke in the middle of the SYMPLEX set before Caroliner played. I now have a bleeding thigh wound cleaned out with iodine, a bandage, and a big old bruise: way to go SF noise scene! Woohoooooo . . . . which would be fine if Symplex were awesome but it was kinda crappy Frippertronix pretending to be SRL 'danger' industrial circa, yes, the early 90s. Maybe jon is right and the west coast blows after all. Sigh.

Wanted: Possition with Renaissance Faires
Location: Santa Rosa

I'd like and entry level position at a booth or Ren Faire site. I'm freely available weekends.

(I've been an avid attendee of Renaissance Faires for the past 15 years. I've never been able to network with people early enough to join the groups or be part of the behined the scenes action. This year I'm starting early to make the connections.)

Seamstress

Location Santa Rosa

I've been making clothes for 12 years now.
I've been making Renaissance/Shakesperian clothes for 8 years now.
I usually work from Simplicity/Butterick patterns but I can make my own patterns.
I specialize in xxlg sizes (3-6x).
I can make almost anything from a sketch or idea.
I can make any kind of costume/clothing you can think of.

My rates are very reasonable.

that bay trail by the water is also directly next to the freeway. not the most scenic imo

can you guys recommend any good (and flat) 10-15 mi scenic runs up the coast?

drive [Removed Illegal Link] and choose any turnout you want to park in. then run up and down as far as you want. there is never more than 500 feet elevation gain in any direction IIRC

That sucks about Bombay. I guess the bi-rite ice cream place put them out of business.

bamcquern, Monday, 23 May 2011 03:39 (fourteen years ago)

I believe Hwy 1 is closed near Big Sur due to the storm last month that washed most of the highway down the cliff.

it's a meme i made and i like (Steve Shasta), Monday, 23 May 2011 03:40 (fourteen years ago)

Samuel P. Taylor is rad, but I believe it is slated to close due to State Budget cuts. I pass through 1-2x a week, not sure how they can close it off to a rebel like me.

it's a meme i made and i like (Steve Shasta), Monday, 23 May 2011 03:41 (fourteen years ago)

(I think Henry Cowell too, that's in Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley ya?)

it's a meme i made and i like (Steve Shasta), Monday, 23 May 2011 03:42 (fourteen years ago)

samuel p taylor is a damn shame, it's the only option for camping in pt reyes, no?

henry cowell is closing too, yes, but it's harder to feel bad about that because big basin is right there. i actually scheduled henry cowell because big basin was full by the time i got around to reserveamerica.

hadn't thought about the closures at all and now i'm glad i get the chance to go before it closes.

here's the list: http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/712/files/2011ParkClosures_attachments20110518.pdf

i just went to point reyes station park and it was raaaaad. if you like nature. and driving on winding roads through/to nature. i really don't want to leave san fran on wednesday tbh. just feeling like i got my bearings - so much stuff to see/do in the city and right outside it!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 23 May 2011 04:22 (fourteen years ago)

i haven't been camping and hiking in this part of california in years but i wish i had time to now bc it is so fun and full of beauty. ohwell i will come back. (feeling some unexpected west-coast homesickness this trip tbh!

should I do sykes or esalen institute, I mean esalen is $20 a person and only from 1am-3am but I've heard the view is pretty unreal

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Wednesday, 24 August 2011 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Wednesday, 24 August 2011 23:02 (fourteen years ago)

oh wait sorry you're just using the springs

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Wednesday, 24 August 2011 23:02 (fourteen years ago)

yea that wasn't really clear, of course I'm camping, I mean I've never been to springs anywhere before or anything so it's not something I def want to do, usually I just hike around everywhere, but a couple people keep telling me about the springs mannn

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Wednesday, 24 August 2011 23:07 (fourteen years ago)

sykes is pretty dope, but the tubs are a little small. it's a bit of a trek too. i ran it in one day, but i wouldn't recommend that.

jeff, Wednesday, 24 August 2011 23:41 (fourteen years ago)

the bomb hot springs are at deep creek - north of san bernardino

haha hell no

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 25 August 2011 17:28 (fourteen years ago)

limeklin, julia pfeiffer, andrew molera, point sur and garrapata are all pretty rough

the big difference between pfeiffer burns and any other popular SP is the lodge, which you can avoid entirely if you like

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 25 August 2011 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

k just checking cuz one of my friends just asked me if we were glamping and we didn't know it

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 25 August 2011 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

only from 1am-3am

Wait, what?

Indefensible ad vaginem attacks (Michael White), Thursday, 25 August 2011 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

the hot springs at the esalen institute have crazy hours for the public

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 25 August 2011 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

that's part of the appeal I guess, being under the stars

also being in a strange institute

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 25 August 2011 17:37 (fourteen years ago)
