today i went to the knoxville museum of art and i took a weird way home. i went past this alley where a homeless guy was reclining against a building. he was reading a magazine and i slowed down to see what it was. it was penthouse. now seeing a homeless dude reading porn on the street is not that awesome but next to him there was a messy pile of like 35 other magazines! i felt really patriotic and really loved america and loved that homeless dude.

On my most recent trip to SFMOMA:

http://www.sfmoma.org/images/ma/exhib_detail/GRichte_Kerze.jpg
Gehrard Richter's Kerze was on display, first time I'd seen that! Turns out that it was a gift from the owner of my company which was even cooler.

Robert Gober's Forest Room Installation [interactive link]
Totally amazing forest room with "color-by-numbers" camouflage painted on the walls, apparently painted by local theater set designers based on slide projections of pictures taken from near the author's home.

four months pass...
manhattan 4pm saturday: apparently a compact car made a quick right onto 68th from broadway and ran into a stopped moving van -- only the entire front end of the car fit snugly under the truck and the windshield is literally inches from the truckbed. a close call, the driver, a middle aged-woman, shakes and cries as she stands talking to the cops. I watch for a minute and then continued walking. two women next to me:
