Chicago-based Load Records sextet is loud, droney, and willing to pick up a banjo or a saxophone now and then. [Nick Sylvester]

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 18:23 (twenty years ago)

who?

green uno skip card (ex machina), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

Band called Coughs. Can't really type much right now, though, because I'm on my way to the record store to buy this, having been blown right out of the WATER by the fact this band is not only loud and droney, but, shockingly, are also WILLING TO PICK UP A BANJO OR A SAXOPHONE NOW AND THEN.

who doesn't like banjos? playing a banjo is actually a really good habit to get into.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

Coughs arr good. My old band played with them last winter at Free103.

Ian John50n (orion), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 19:30 (twenty years ago)

Do Pitchfork writers write their own teaser blurbs? I have really been enjoying Nick's blog lately.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 19:40 (twenty years ago)

load is still great -- except for that hair police split they put out but then everything by that band sucks.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 10 March 2005 06:22 (twenty years ago)

NO OSS, NO MRP, NO NEW LB, NO NEW MINDFLAYER

VINCEBUS OK
NECRONOMITRON EHHH OK
KITES DEBATABLE MERIT
SIGHTINGS GOOD, BUT ONE TRICK PONY
USAISAMONSTER FIND 1 FIDELITY

LESS HARSH NOISE MORE KILLER JAMZ PLZ

green uno skip card (ex machina), Thursday, 10 March 2005 07:10 (twenty years ago)

LESS HARSH NOISE MORE KILLER JAMZ PLZ
agreed. i'm eagerly awaiting the new 3xc3p+3r on load.

dronez are not ours to eat, dronez are not ours to wear (smile), Thursday, 10 March 2005 07:31 (twenty years ago)

sightings more than one trick pony -- last two records (on load and on smack shire with tom smith) were were great and forward motions. noxagt always swell as is usaisamonster. admittedly vincebus and necronomitron are meh at best. kites are decent. fat day album was sweet. etc. thus, track record is more than 50 per cent which is better than most labels.

excepter is hardly harsh noise.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 10 March 2005 07:34 (twenty years ago)

I obviously haven't been buying records. But why can't Load put out something compelling instead of noise alsorans

I mean.... that's what tape labels are for!

green uno skip card (ex machina), Thursday, 10 March 2005 07:38 (twenty years ago)

That said Excepter is the jam -- not to make this too much of a circle jerk.... but they kill most of the crap load puts out now.

green uno skip card (ex machina), Thursday, 10 March 2005 07:41 (twenty years ago)

noxagt the iron point on load! bass, cello, drums trio -- awesome instrumental cover of tom rapp's "regions of may". also, dan st jacques sure got annoyed at me when i slagged the vincebus album, even though ive kissed his plenty over olneville soundsystem, landed, etc.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 10 March 2005 10:33 (twenty years ago)

i still haven't heard excepter.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 10 March 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

msp (msp), Thursday, 10 March 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

why do people feel a need to post to a thread claiming they've never heard a certain band?

this is adamrl territory.

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 10 March 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

no, it's more amateurist of me.

but that said, i want to hear excepter! hook a brotha up, argunaut!
