Thor, this is gonna come off a little, y'know, lame and douche-y... BUT:

Back in the olden days, when people actually bought records and CDs (and tapes!!!*), there were these things called album art/sleeves/liner notes that would show you many things about the band/artwork that were perhaps indiscernable from simply hearing the music. So yeah, the fact that Will Oldham photographed the Slint for the cover of Spiderland may come off as somewhat ironic or unbelievable in this day and age, was actually pretty common knowledge for fans of the band 12-13 years ago... esp. in the excitement gathering around the first Palace Bros. tour (93 or 94) which featured Walford, Pajo and MacMahan backing Will.

*I still have my cassette of Spiderland (or my XGF does, at least one of us does).

didn't go tonight. went to see slint instead. will be there tomorrow and the next night. only interested in a handful of the bands each night, but lots of noise friends who i haven't seen in a while will be there; bunch of doodz crashing with me. maybe it will turn into a party tomorrow night; i don't know.

uh, slint was good though. PG Six opened and played a pretty rockin' set, which sounded at times like the dead and/or neil young. he played one of the jams from folk scene (as well as the standard five or six songs he always plays.) slint was loud.

They're from Mpls/St.Paul....Seen 'em a couple times...they wear kinda goofy costumes and masks...the singer dude plays a Clorox Bleach bottle that is amplified with some sort of electronics....spazzy, etc...I thought they were "okay"...kinda performance-arty.
