the first time i saw them they opened for rollins band at tewligans in '88. i bought a white t-shirt with KINGHORSE and the knight piece spraypainted in black on it from MIKE BUCAYU. I think his younger brother took my KINGHORSE - AWAKEN shirt but that's okay it doesn't fit anymore.

I guess my proudest Louisville moment was when Sean dedicated "Too Far Gone" to me because I was about to leave town to go to college. It was a "lump in throat" show for me, and a pretty awesome sendoff. That band was so fucking intense sometimes, but it was no surprise considering the weird logic of those four people: grumpy garbage collector, long-haired Sacred Reich fan, Filipino blues fanatic, total fireball o' insanity lead singer.

Haha, for years at the opportune moment I have been known to suddenly stop and say "Motherfuckaaaaaaa, open this caaaaage" . . .

There's a weird story about the meaning of those lyrics- the words "c'mon bitch, gimme the keys / yeah I like you better on your knees" was read (understandably) as some typical sexist heavy metal blowjob snickering stuff- but the actual explanation is weirder than that- Sean said that when he was in junior high he got in trouble at school and some school administrator in PRP locked him in some room while she sent for a principal- so the "gimme the keys" line is Sean asking to be let out- and the next line "i like you better on your knees" was the response from the teacher to him- but because it's a metal record those lines got taken up in some SPIN review as proof that the band were just Spinal Tap neanderthals or something
