Why does this bother you so much? That's weird. Anyway, yeah, I'll freely admit that my record collection is nowhere near the size of yours (this is another "creepy" factoid that I've memorized: you have a large record collection) and that it's mostly skewed to records released in the last 15 years. But that's just how it happened, I guess. I mean, I've recently been trying to buy some older records so I can get into a bunch of stuff I've always been curious about but never heard. But I have to say, I'm also really thankful that ILM has exposed me to some pretty cool recent stuff, too, and if I tend to like a lot of what the "hivemind" likes, might it not be the case that ILM luckily accords with my already developed taste rather than the idea that I blindly structure my taste around ILM? That's a simplification of a more complex system in which tastes work within social communities, but it's a point worth raising in the face of your presumptions.
