James, do you doubt Michigan State??? I ask becuz I trust u!! I think they can win it all! I think they can banish Roy Williams to a serious personal hell. and i actually do like Roy Williams! believe it or not. but that guy -- wow. It will certainly be an interesting game. i can't fuckin WAIT!! But James give us yr thoughts on life -- cuz you are an enigma! but you totally rule!

james I would have liked to attend the Motley Crue concert with you. I feel like you and I probably would have got sufficiently shit-faced together to appreciate and love the fact that MC played "10 Seconds to Love" during their set.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 28 March 2005 07:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, actually I just realized I never actually asked you a full-on question. So, here goes -- what is James Blount;s fave ROCK ensemble of all-time! I am very curious about this!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 28 March 2005 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

you should tell me that it is Richard.Jagger.Jones.Wyman.Watts

but then again you might not tell me that! you are an unpredictable person. that;s why I luv the James Blount!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 28 March 2005 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

dear james,

when are you coming to new york?

love,
rosemary

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 28 March 2005 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i could see the spartans winnning it, it seems anyone's game to me and the teams i doubt most - unc, illinois - are the supposed favorites. meanwhile the 'underdogs' have the much better coaches. stones are my favorite rock band, zeppelin my fave rock ensemble. i was in new york about a year and a half ago, i will not be back anytime soon.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

is anyone besides the mets trying to get him? i figure he's making closer money or more than the tigers want to pay a middle reliever so i'm guessing they'll trade him.

3 fave dance music songs:

freak nasty - "da dip"
ghosttown dj's - "my boo"
kp & envyi - "shorty swing my way"

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

JB,

Have you ever been to Columbus? I had a high school friend who joined the army and got stationed there. Went to visit him once. It's the only city in Georgia I've ever been to! I never actually went to tha ATL. We had fun. Kind of a depressing town. We went to a strip club and also to some bar where a bad guitar center style cover band was playing.

Dear James,

What do you think of that guy that has a similar name to you that's having his dick sucked by the British press at the moment? James Blunt, I think it is, or James Blont, or something. Anyway, him.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 28 March 2005 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

ten months pass...
James you are rocking on NFL and ILM threads I am reading, can I ask you to keep fighting the good fight? also you never answered me about Columbus

Stormy Davis (diamond), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 07:24 (twenty years ago)

o shit! i've never been to columbus proper or anything, i hear phoenix city (i think?) near there in alabama used to be cool as hell, might still be. the closest i've been is coming back from new orleans or visiting my grandma in pensacola and stopping off around auburn for gas or a waffle. my dad might know more about it, he goes to the ga-auburn game down there every other year.

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 07:46 (twenty years ago)

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:05 (twenty years ago)

There's only one bass part. (x-post)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:10 (twenty years ago)

Intro part, verse part, chorus part, parts is parts, son.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:10 (twenty years ago)

Maybe you have a remastered (or even remixed?) version or something? Can you really tell me that you could transcribe all of the notes on those parts I mentioned?

The first part where the notes are just lost in the mix completely is toward the end of the first verse and into the first "recurring bridge" (doesn't really seem like a chorus).

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:15 (twenty years ago)

Actually, you know what? It starts with the chorus, doesn't it? That part ("I don't know why you want to tell me" etc.) is the first verse! That's neat.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:19 (twenty years ago)

At home, brah.

There's a nice youtube of a really instrumental long jam from the Byrds that may (or may not) make your day.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 19:39 (twenty years ago)

I know how to play the bassline to "Makes No Sense at All"

Also, "In a Free Land", "Chartered Trips," and "Divide & Conquer", which is like 3 notes, maybe varying an octave in there somewhere.

I'm most happy by knowing how to play "First of the Last Calls"

two years of bass lessons with this hilarious classic rock bass teacher(he used to be in Brownsville Station), who was used to teaching kids how to play Red Hot Chili Peppers song, and here i come wanting to know how to play stuff like One Last Wish, The Stooges, and Ike & Tina. It was hilarious teaching him about bands like Andrew WK, the Darkness, & the Von Bondies

Ten years come and gone so fast I might as well have been dreaming
Sunny days have burned a path
Across another season
Ten years come so fast
Sunny days have burned a path
