He is better than THE KILLERS (who I actually haven't heard)!

Airtube (nordicskilla), Friday, 1 April 2005 22:36 (twenty years ago)

it's so easy to laugh at yourself
and all those jokes have already been written
seems like another vain attempt
to let yourself fall out of the oven

holy mountains
they look so tired
and it's a perfect day to lock yourself inside

who you foolin' with the fools are right
it's the same thing but it's almost as different
hard to tell when it pacifies your mind
leaves you stranded with a broken engine
lazy desert looks so mangled
let me drown in a convalescent bliss
get up from your bed of rest
been a long time since you've lived
but the static in your mind
leaves you hollow and unkind
with a shock electric wave
turns you on.
you've been flunked out of the devils house
delinquent hygienes are so abrasive
some distortion that's never been known
on the treadmill you've been runnin' forever

holy mountains, they look so tired
and it's a perfect day to lock yourself inside

be gone

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 1 April 2005 22:36 (twenty years ago)

lazy flies all hovering above
the magistrate, he puts on his gloves
and he looks to the clouds
all pink and disheveled
there must be some blueprints,
some creed of the devil
inscribed in our minds
a hideous game
vanishes in thin air
the vanity of slaves
who wants to be there?
to sweep the debris
to harness dead-horses
to ride in the sun
a life of confessions
written in the dust
out in the mangroves
the mynah birds cry
in the shadows of sulphur
the trawlers drift by
they're chewing dried meat
house of disrepute
the dust of opiates
and syphilis patients
on brochure vacations
fear has a glare that traps you
like searchlights
the puritans stare
their souls are fluoresecent
the skin of a robot
vibrates with pleasure
matrons and gigolos
carouse in the parlor
their hand-grenade eyes
invalid and blind

vanishes in thin air
the vanity of slaves
who wants to be there?
to sweep the debris
to harness dead-horses
to ride in the sun
a life of confessions
written in the dust

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 1 April 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

who said that?

Airtube (nordicskilla), Friday, 1 April 2005 22:40 (twenty years ago)

Doggerel.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 1 April 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

I don't really like him much either.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 1 April 2005 23:01 (twenty years ago)

i like franz ferdinand better than beck and i can't stand franz ferdinand in their willful mediocrity.

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 1 April 2005 23:07 (twenty years ago)

Let me make this clear, now. The Killers are my 5,312th favorite rock band ever. Franz Ferdinand are my 3,620th favorite.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 1 April 2005 23:24 (twenty years ago)

I LIKE BECK'S ART

absolutego (ex machina), Saturday, 2 April 2005 00:05 (twenty years ago)

I think the new song is good. Hold still so I can commence gnawing off your orbital bones.

Cabaret Voltron (PUNXSUTAWNEY PENIS), Saturday, 2 April 2005 00:27 (twenty years ago)

i know tim. im sorry. me just tease. mea culpa.

jack cole (jackcole), Saturday, 2 April 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

I sold all my Beck albums. I realized he was really boring.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 2 April 2005 01:51 (twenty years ago)

i think the only beck album i've ever heard all the way through was his last one. the nick drake one.

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 2 April 2005 02:09 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
NEW SINGLE "GIRL" IS REALLY GOOD EXCEPT FOR *WACKY* ACOUSTIC GUITAR BREAK!

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 2 July 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

Every Beck album sounds more and more like recycled Beck. He's quite efficient.

Hurting (Hurting), Sunday, 3 July 2005 03:09 (twenty years ago)

PHOIOEI (blastocyst), Sunday, 3 July 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

i agree with tim, he sucks.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 3 July 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

mutations was good when i was 14.

Ian John50n (orion), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

I like him, but he jumped the shark with Midnite Vultures. Everything before that was pretty good.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

arg, beck

Gear! (Ill Cajun Gunsmith) (Gear!), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

while i admit, i like beck, i think this comment is 100% accurate.

tehresa (tehresa), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:34 (twenty years ago)

I think he will be much better musically when he finally becomes an Operating Thetan.

jack cole, a senior citizen who lives alone with his cat (jackcole), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

Mutations is still great in my book. i can take or leave most of his other stuff.

looking back at some dead world that looks so new (jed), Monday, 4 July 2005 00:14 (twenty years ago)

I love One Foot in the Grave, like Mellow Gold, and sort of like Odelay and Midnite Vultures.

But there's something really, really crappy about the new Beck album -- almost like he felt the need to go back to his Odelay style but feels too old to be doing it.

Hurting (Hurting), Monday, 4 July 2005 02:32 (twenty years ago)

Kathleen Hannah doesn't like Beck either.

get to thA CHOPPA / A++++++ SELLER (ex machina), Monday, 4 July 2005 04:55 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 4 July 2005 08:13 (twenty years ago)
