I like everything about them except the bass, guitar, vocals and drums.

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

so you like the keys, then?

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

Not especially.

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:41 (twenty years ago)

The drumming is so terrible

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:41 (twenty years ago)

I am now listening to "Funhouse" to purge.

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

Airtube (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

You saw the whole of the moon.

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

You're such an...old person.

does that make you want to touch yourself? (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

thank god they're not the recommended album of the month on the radio station here anymore. this month at least it's kaiser chiefs and hot hot heat! (i don't think i dislike the hot hot heat song as much as the arcade fire one!)

(p.s. thank god bright eyes aren't album of the month also!)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

STOP LISTENING TO THE RADIO TIM

does that make you want to touch yourself? (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

Is Arcade Fire the representative myspace music? I sorta think so. I can't get worked-up enough to dislike it. It's just fucking dull!

Remy (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:44 (twenty years ago)

who could hate the Arcade Fire? and on the other hand, who could love them?

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

I can hate fucking rock critics though!

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:56 (twenty years ago)

yeah, I just don't get it. That band is not good. I don't know though, I should probably get banned from the noise board b/c I've been listening to Tori Amos (Boys for Pele/Choirgirl Hotel) today. (plz don't actually ban me ok thx.)

daria g (daria g), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 04:22 (twenty years ago)

there are much worse bands than arcade fire

SOMEONE WHO CARES ABOUT PEOPLE (deangulberry), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 04:26 (twenty years ago)

absolutego (ex machina), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 04:28 (twenty years ago)

there are much worse bands than arcade fire

Fuck yes. If AF weren't hyped to the moon, then threads like this wouldn't exist.

Threads like this wouldn't exist if noise dudes had new jokes!

I just listened to an Evens mp3 and a stream of a song from the new Spoon record after having being directed to them by a post on Anthony Miccio's blog. I won't say that I listened to them "so that I can dismiss them" (though I did enjoy the humor in absolutego's characterization of his own similar actions.) Like absolutego, my intention was to involve myself in at least briefly monitoring things in which people who follow indie rock enjoy, regardless of my own intuitive lack of interest in these bands. Neither of these songs generated any further interest on my part in hearing more of these bands' music.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 04:54 (twenty years ago)

I JUST WAS WONDERING WHAT KIDS LISTEN TO THESE DAYS.

absolutego (ex machina), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 04:55 (twenty years ago)

This is essentially what I was doing also (although I would not necessarily describe the demographic of Evens and Spoon fans as "kids," of course).

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 04:57 (twenty years ago)

Though, again, I enjoyed the humor in your comment!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 05:26 (twenty years ago)

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

I am interested in this expression of inequality stated by absolutego.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 05:33 (twenty years ago)

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

hell yes!

i actually don't mind them, but they are certainly not anything special!

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 10:31 (twenty years ago)

That kid on the left in the magazine cover picture - is Napoleon Dynamite in this band?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

Isn't accusing us of making strawman attacks on indie kids itself a strawman attack?

Alex in TCBY (ex machina), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 13:54 (twenty years ago)

no.
