i swear some of the people into the book have to be some of the dumbest hominds who ever fell off the proverbial "turnip truck". on the title page of the william goldman novel it says something like the "good parts" version, the lame joke being that all of the boring parts have been cut out (har har). a good percentange don't get it so i get goons coming in occasionally asking for the unexpurgated version. jesus!

jack cole (jackcole), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

how old were you when you first saw it? it helps to have been under 10 years old upon first viewing.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I think that I first saw it completely when I was 18 or so.

My Fred Savage love is saved for The Wizard.

BUTTERCUP'S TRUE LOVE IS JEFF SPICOLI

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I once got in a heated argument with some middle-aged guy over whether or not the movie would be better without the Peter Falk/Fred Savage storybook framing device.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I still love the movie, but now that I'm grown the score kinda bugs the fuck out of me. Those corny ass synthesized horn stabs, urg.

I wanna see a remake with lens flare and Eno score.

AARON WHAT SIDE WERE YOU ON! Pronto!

Ok I really don't care either way but this old fart of my tenuous acquaintence was going on about how great the Savage/Falk scenes were, and he was so riled up that I calmly piped in , "I think the movie would've been better if they had ditched those scenes and just made it as a pure fantasy/comedy thing", and he just fucking went off like, " B-B-BUT THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE DAMN MOVIE WHEN THE KID SAYS TO THE GRANDFATHER WILL YOU READ TO ME AGAIN TOMORROW AND HE SAYS AS YOU WISH THAT'S THE WHOLE FUCKING MOVIE!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!" And then I said, "I like the movie in spite of that stuff, not because of it." and just went off more like, "SPUTTER SPUTTER FUCK SHIT FUCK". It was beautiful.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)
