Can a noise dude help my band with tour?

my band (The Master Control Program) is trying to do a tour in late May and as we're a pretty young/new band we don't have too many contacts. any help with booking/venue contacts in providence, new york, or really anywhere so far as virginia would be totally awesome. we just finished our demo and have some mp3s up at http://themcp.cjb.net , not to be a self promoting dork or anything. if you can help with anything, email me. THX@!!!

Wouldn't it be easier if you made a few records.sent them to papers and radio, built a small dedicated fanbase and then tried to get some shows?

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 12:11 (twenty years ago)

dan, go read MY BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE or something. What he needs is to have his mp3s mashed up with M.I.A.

Um, I don't think there's anything wrong with posting on the board about this. It's not like the Matador guy -- you can listen to the mp3s and decide if you want to help or not. Bands on myspace message each other all the time about help with shows.

YOUR BAND NAME IS TERRIBLE...AND AS YOUR NEW MANAGER, IVE DECIDED TO CHANGE IT.

PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR: YOUR DAD IS IN FUGAZI

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

OH, AND YOUR OPENNING FOR GENE LOVES JEZEBEL AT THE WESTBURY MUSIC FAIR.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 14:08 (twenty years ago)

i hope you're going to join occasionally with a body rap solo.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 14:19 (twenty years ago)

Dan, of course that would be the way to go but due to some unfortunate circumstances, one of the members of the band has to go back home to LA for a few months, so we figured this would be a fun way to just try and play a few shows and whatnot before he leaves. Our name is from Tron. We know it's bad.

"Our name is from Tron. We know it's bad."

From Tron is a great name!

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

The MCP was an allegory for REAGANOMICS

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

Never thought about it that way, but it makes some sense. I like getting stoned and comparing Tron to WWII though its usually just stoner babble about how the game grid is like concentration camps, Tron is the Allies, Dillinger stealing Space Paranoids is Pearl Harbor, etc.. "From Tron"... that's pretty good though I can foresee some potentially confusing grammatical situations.

- (smile), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

From Tron is a horrible name. Never listen to Tim Ellison's advice, he likes the Killers.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

I'm a noise band

Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

you're scottish.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

I've managed to avoid ever hearing the Killers which is probably a good thing. hstencil, thanks for telling me about that KFW show last week but them bastards at Siberia wouldn't let me in. fuck being underage. Did anyone catch either of his shows?

- (smile), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

you're underage? BWAHAHAHAHA

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

laugh it up duuuuude.

- (smile), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:20 (twenty years ago)

i am.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

It's cool. I wish I was like, 19 again.

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

of course that's not UNDERAGE in EUROPE

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:31 (twenty years ago)

or canada.

- (smile), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:31 (twenty years ago)

yeah but nothing good happens in europe or canada.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

If good = fucked up healthcare and tax systems, diminishing civil liberties and bizarre puritan attitudes, then YES

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Only kidding america is GREAT

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

europe has the opposite of all those things and still is boring.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:43 (twenty years ago)

You love it really.

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

i've only been to spain.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:46 (twenty years ago)

Oh

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

So, the answer is that yes, a noise dude could help your band with touring but that a noise dude won't help, because a noise would rather bicker.

MURDERBALL OF THE TRAVELLING PANTS (deangulberry), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

The Killers are my 5,112th favorite band!

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

They were okay on Jay Leno the other night. Kaiser Chiefs on Letterman were more boss.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

oh man you watch tv too.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 19:53 (twenty years ago)

Turning it on while eating something before going to be doesn't count much. Didn't someone start a thread about fucking Seinfeld recently?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

"going to bed"

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:21 (twenty years ago)

seinfeld is great. jay leno is crap and inexcusable, even when shitty bands you like are on.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

I don't really watch Jay! Leno! So go argue with someone else.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:25 (twenty years ago)

hstencil, I heard ddb said some shit about you!

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:27 (twenty years ago)

(NOT REALLY)

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:52 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)
