Glucas from the Van!shing Vo!ce lived with Er!c D!ce for a while and still maintaions that Er!c is the most well-read person he's ever met.

I've met Eric several times and I'm not so sure I believe that.

Nice fella though. First guy to ever laugh at the name 'w00den wand'

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Friday, 22 April 2005 01:17 (twenty years ago)

efil4zelffor (deangulberry), Friday, 22 April 2005 01:50 (twenty years ago)

wow hstence never pegged you for a sebadoh fan

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Friday, 22 April 2005 01:52 (twenty years ago)

ps ian i need your address, brock's too ok

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Friday, 22 April 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

early sebadoh is awesome. they lost it after bakesale and even that one's only good for jake's songs.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 22 April 2005 02:13 (twenty years ago)

i liked a few songs on that one - "Not A Friend," "Skull," "Careful"...

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Friday, 22 April 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

someday i gotta make everyone copies of the unreleased sparkalepsy stuff.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 22 April 2005 03:33 (twenty years ago)

rog - you're back!

Remy (x Jeremy), Friday, 22 April 2005 04:03 (twenty years ago)

i listened to "smash your head on the punk rock" the other day and as much of a fan as i was back then, i think i like this record way more now. i think it almost fits in better with current music i've been into.

of course, when i saw them in atl in 95, they were with smog circa burning kingdom and harry pussy... which was heavyweirdcrazyblowlilmspbrainanewhole. so maybe not.

m.

msp (mspa), Friday, 22 April 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

hahaha!

I am an early Sebadoh person, too. I stopped at Bakesale but I remember kind of liking it.

Levinicus (nordicskilla), Friday, 22 April 2005 04:27 (twenty years ago)

i got baked with them after the "bakesale" show at tramps.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 22 April 2005 04:44 (twenty years ago)

bakedsale.

sorry heh

latebloomer: But when the monkey die, people gonna cry. (latebloomer), Friday, 22 April 2005 04:50 (twenty years ago)

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Friday, 22 April 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

"dance music" on the jukebox

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 23 April 2005 00:03 (twenty years ago)

holy shit you dudes missed it, black dice were fucking AWESOME last night. i know no one will believe me, but they were miles better than i've seen them in a while, very heavy/psychedelic, beats-y, kinda like prime autechre except with guitar and shit. good times.

also, dancing to cheesy eurotechno with big-tittahed polack girls = PRICELESS!

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

the fact that adam is 'an early sebadoh fan" is unsurprising

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

you should hear their rare white labels.

jack cole (jackcole), Sunday, 24 April 2005 20:55 (twenty years ago)

hstencil OTM. black dice were fucking amazing last night; very autechre/heavy industrial vibe, with some really fantastic slashing guitar parts that broke apart into eroding shards of signal, heavy drones that were shaking the plastic cocktail cups on the little table next to me, etc. i'd never been in the club before, but it was fucking great -- ceiling lamps like bizarre jellyfish, zebra-striped floor, white, vaguely rib-shaped backdrop to main bar that was like being in the belly of a whale or something. really nice polish bartendresses. gaffney tottering down the main stairs of the club with a glass of red wine in his hand while the polish dance party streamed in at the end of black dice's set was pretty priceless, too. all in all and A+ fucking evening.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Sunday, 24 April 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

would've liked to meet you, 'sheed! i was the headbanger.

lowenstein loved the long-haired polish bartendrix. yowza.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

ah, ok ... thinking of it now, i might've seen you ... were you in the middle of the floor under the big, round projection screen? if so, i was off directly to yr left by one of those little cocktail tables (handy, those). ... that place was a trip. i was completely confused about whether i was supposed to tip the men's room attendant.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Monday, 25 April 2005 00:13 (twenty years ago)

yeah i was sort of inbetween the tables, wearing a brown jacket. to my right was ilb regular dr. morbius in glasses and prolapse shirt.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 25 April 2005 01:30 (twenty years ago)

I AM JEALOUS OF UPSCALE NOIZ

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Monday, 25 April 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

ok stencil i know exactly who/where you were now. i was wearing a black jacket and hoodie -- which i realize is probably about as helpful as telling you i was the guy in the suit at the sales convention -- but fwiw.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Monday, 25 April 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

oh no now i'm feeling paranoid! yikes!

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 25 April 2005 10:34 (twenty years ago)

haha! it was the headbanging that gave you away -- pretty much everyone else was standing around like stumps.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Monday, 25 April 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

yeah dude you'd think when black dice actually gives up the goods re: beats you can dance to people would get down, but NOOOOOOOOO.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 25 April 2005 10:39 (twenty years ago)

i'm as guilty as anyone -- i had the nod going. zzzzz. they should have let the polish gang in early to bust out in full i-m-gettin-down-but-don't-spill-my-gin-and-tonic mode.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Monday, 25 April 2005 10:44 (twenty years ago)

dude also polish dance party afterwards was KICKING. hipster indie kids are douchbags who don't like to have fun.

tho the polish girls didn't seem to be too into me : (

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 25 April 2005 10:58 (twenty years ago)

i liked that right after black dice was over and the polish dance traxxx fired up there was a palpable moment of "dude are they still playing?"

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Monday, 25 April 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

eight months pass...
Morbius liking Prolapse is a beautiful thing dudes.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:05 (twenty years ago)

mizzell, Monday, 13 April 2009 18:00 (sixteen years ago)

I hate this country

Plaxico (I know, right?), Monday, 13 April 2009 20:23 (sixteen years ago)

high hopes for this!

was playing load blown on my ipod today, the minimal beat towards the end of "bananas" is so amazing and brought out the facial tics in me. probably made me look like an idiot.

sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 14 April 2009 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

sweet!

Plaxico (I know, right?), Friday, 17 April 2009 14:11 (sixteen years ago)

That was one reason we didn’t want to have a drummer—we didn’t want it to be sidetracked because most drummers go into particular rhythmic patterns, and then you’re stuck.

AW: (Laughs) I agree. (Laughter)

mizzell, Friday, 17 April 2009 15:19 (sixteen years ago)

touring with wolf eyes, noise nostalgia starts now!
