You may already be aware that there are some computer problems currently. This is related to the construction project on campus. Facillities has turned our chilled water system (cooling) off and it is scheduled to be off till Monday noon. Computers generate heat - more computers, more heat. In order to protect our machines, we have had to shut down most of the computers in the department.
If you notice that you are unable to connect to the web server, or do normal functions, it could be that machines have been turned off because of the heat.
The faculty are painfully aware of the problem. Maybe this is a sign that you should just enjoy D-day and forget about your CSC homework! Not really, but it's a thought.
I'll be off this afternoon. The timing of this is terrible, and your frustration if very valid. I can't believe they didn't think of the last week of classes when they scheduled this job! Don't kill the messenger!
