The Cows are only barely underrated. If I see them get any more props, I'm gonna say they're overrated. Nation of Ulysses were horrible.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

Tim, which NOU records have you heard?!?!?!

A homunculus of Darby Crash, .... created for the purposes of *EVIL* (ex machina, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

I saw them live and I once bought a SEVEN INCH.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:23 (twenty years ago)

Which I probably sold back to a store for a quarter or something.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

NOU Thirteen Point Program is not that great... but Plays Pretty For Baby is CLASSIC beyond belief. I bet they sucked live.

What was that Cows song with the refrain that goes, "Remember! It's mine! It's mine!" ? That was a decent song. Deebz, did you ever hear Trash Can School?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 19:00 (twenty years ago)

YEAH, I THINK THEY ARE ON A TERIYAKI ASTHMA COMP...THE ONE WITH CRACKER BASH (ALSO UNDERRATED).

I CANT REMEMBER WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE THO...ANY GOOD?

SAD FACE x 1,000,000,000 (ddb), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 19:02 (twenty years ago)

crackerbash is not that good.

Ian John50n (orion), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

Chris Ott (former music editor for Pitchforkmedia.com, current music editor for PerfectSoundForever.com) referred to Crackerbash as a "riot grrl" band on ILM at some point. I ROFL-HAUS'd.

SAD FACE x 1,000,000,000 (ddb), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

Trash Can School were sort of like Flesh Eaters but with a more doped up sounding, laconic singer who also wailed on the sax and more minimal tunes.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

I'm gonna start a Trash Can School thred on ILM right now.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 20:19 (twenty years ago)

trash can school's alright, if you like saxophones.

much love for SOLAR records

for some reason people in nyc don't seem to like "freak-a-zoid." they suck, that song is awesome.

vagina is woefully underrated.

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 19 May 2005 04:04 (twenty years ago)

gareth, i don't have that, but looked Change up, wrote this rediculously long post about how i found 50 awesome records in front of a record store in NY while i was completely thrashed at like 3am and it was raining and while walking to the subway i tossed a bunch of them but kept about 10 (some cameo, some Odyssey - the track "Inside Out" is such a fucking stormer). the best of the bunch was Peter Jaques Band* "Fire Night Dance" which is a hard synthy, italo disco album that i absolutely love, and then i realized the guy in that band Change is actually named Jacques Fred Petrus so i deleted the post, but here it is again? anyways, i'll look for their albums. the covers are hideous!

*they spelled his name wrong (Peter Jaeques Band) on the front of the album. how fucking funny is that?

[that bastard] jaxon (jaxon), Thursday, 19 May 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

CRACKERBASH IS TERRIBLE. PLEASE TAKE SEAN CROGHAN OUT OF MY CITY FOREVER SO HE DOESN'T FORM ANYMORE DIRE, FUCKING AWFUL BANDS.

Question: Were Helmet hammerheads? And, conversely, did Hammerhead wear helmets?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 21 May 2005 19:54 (twenty years ago)

gareth, so i picked up two Solar Records albums yesterday. a Shalamar recod (sooo much goodness) and a Deele record. i originally liked the track "Shoot 'em Up Movies" because MF Doom sampled it, but i bought the record and just realized that it contained both LA Reid and Babyface. wtf!?

[that bastard] jaxon (jaxon), Sunday, 22 May 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

which shalamar? the one with a night to remember on it?

dynasty - adventures in the land of music, is still my favourite solar record, but midnight star's midas touch is great, as is the whispers and the beat goes on

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 22 May 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

solar records and 80s R&B in general are way underated! Dynasty's shining hour: "I Don't Want To Be A Freak (But I Can't Help Myself)" words to live by!

also underrated:

cuban/puerto rican/dominican restaurants
vanilla sex/the missionary position/heterosexuality in general
bourbon whiskey
jamaican weed

[that bastard] jaxon (jaxon), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 01:44 (twenty years ago)

also on the street: he took his two dogs to the school down the hill to let them run and play and they took off. later that night we got a call from a neighbor who found the dogs. we went to the house and it was john candy (rip)

[that bastard] jaxon (jaxon), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 01:45 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, harmon lived with then wife Pam Dawber (Mindy of Mork & Mindy)
