This sounds put together a la tape deck and pause-button edits, kinda Hanatarash 4. People should do more of this now.

I heard Eye used turntables with locking tone arms for some stuff he did. How can I make a locking tone arm?

JW (orion), Friday, 3 June 2005 20:12 (twenty years ago)

First you need to invest in a good pair of gloves:

what is a locking tone arm? it makes lockgrooves?

[that bastard] jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 3 June 2005 20:22 (twenty years ago)

yea, it doesn't migrate with the spiral of the record. I heard that eye put a brick on a record to do some hanatarash/early boredoms stuff, but a locking mechanism is more useful

He did nothing of the sort when I saw him a few weeks ago. All effects were done with his mixer, sampler and phaser.

I was going to say that this is a lie and that you couldn't have watched him for eight hours straight ... but then I realized that yeah, you probably did watch him for 8 hours straight and the performance is recorded on beta and a series of handcut 78s.

Visiting Maasai warrior seeks fun in New York - 33

I am a 33 year old black male from Tanzania. This is my third time visiting America. I have been here for a month and a half doing a business course and also working on fundraising for my company in Tanzania.

I have been meeting with serious and mostly not very exciting people. I am finishing my trip by staying with a friend in New York, and he has taken me out to some nice places, but I would really like to meet a cool girl to spend some time with before I return to East Africa.

I would love to meet an asian girl because there are none in Tanzania, but anyone who wants to go for a drink and hang out would be great. I always have safe sex, and do not use drugs.

You'd be amazed what a 10 second glance at his set-up is worth, young Deang0l!

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 3 June 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

“One of my favorite bands is the Boredoms. I always follow what [Boredoms leader] Yamantaka Eye does. Eye started his career 15 years ago when I was still in junior high, and he's constantly changing his direction and focus. The Boredoms are known for their hardcore, noisy stuff, but Eye likes electronic music a lot. The electronic music he makes is very different from the normal electronic formula. His way of sequencing and using effects is very unusual. His ideas come from some other world.”

jw (orion), Friday, 3 June 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

That reads like a 3rd grade book report.

have you seen the video where Eye shows the interviewer all the musical toys in his apartment, then at the end rolls around in his bathtub with an electronic children's guitar?
