xpost - yes, if you look closely there are midi triggers attached to the bass and snare drum, which control the synth sequences. in that interview he says he uses a nord modular, which is a fucking expensively awesome synth. i guess he has to program all the different parts and can then trigger them with the drums. it's like the opposite of squarepusher, who triggers the drum machine sequences with his bass playing. how the midi triggers actually work is a total mystery to me though.
