BIOS:

TOMUTONTTU

Tomutonttu is the leading clown of Kemialliset Ystävät. Toy reed streams,
mutilated vocals and groovy loops of animal noise are some of the colors
used to create
the whirling mess that is the lonely song of Tomutonttu. It is like
a confusing detail from the KY freedom flow, a microcosmos of strange
sound creatures
and dirt flying around and interacting with a logic all their own.

PEKKO KAPPI

Pekko Käppi is a folk musician who has slipped in to the Finnish
psychfolketc
(or what ever it should be called) scene from the historically oriented
Finnish
folk music scene. Käppi´s main instruments are jouhikkos and fiddle and
singing voice.
He tends to sing long poetic stories with more or less mythical
elements, which he
has dug out from archives on top of droney and wondering melodic
structures from
the string instruments. He has been collaborating among others with
Kiila, Lau Nau,
Kemialliset Ystävät, Avarus, Maniacs Dream and is a member of Päivänsäde
and
has been involved in various music and theater projects.
Releases:
Minun Päiväkunnissani (Imvated, 2004)
Bubnit Sebje Pod Nos (267 Lattajjaa, 2003)
Kalastajia ja Kaivostyöläisiä (Amerikan Peikko, 2001)"

ISLAJA

Islaja is Merja Kokkonen, a young visual artist and musician living and
working in Tampere Finland. Her debut album Meritie (Fonal Records 2004)
gained praise in international music media such as The Wire, Dusted
Magazine and WFMU. The follow up release Palaa Aurinkoon (Fonal Records
2005) has caused equal amount of excitement and stir. Islaja records her
music at home using a rainbow of instrument to accompany her personal
vocal delivery sang in Finnish. Her first solo show was at Femmes Festival
in Belgium spring 2005. She has toured Europe as a member of Avarus and UK
with Hertta Lussu Ässä, a free folk super trio with Lau Nau and Kuupuu.

KUUPUU

kuupuu is a solo project of Jonna Karanka (Avarus, Kukkiva Poliisi,
Hertta Lussu Ässä etc).
kuupuu music is a blend of home baked sounds combined with naïve and
child-like folkish rhytms.
after sold out cdr and tape releases Time-Lag is putting out a
7inchfull of psychedelic sounds in spring 2005, edition of 600 .

LAU NAU

Lau Nau is Laura Naukkarinen's (of Kiila, Päivänsäde,
Avarus and the Anaksimandros) solo project which lives
with the help of her friends. Her abstract folk is a
mosaic of a myriad of instruments that fall where they
may, with free open structures, balancing on a thin
wire of logical evolution, with surprising harmonies.
Melody is suggested through the contours of a
wandering and warm voice. Still, the songs have strong
backbones.
Lau Nau's debut album has been released by the
Chicago-based label Locust and is an amazingly
beautiful slice of outdoor sounds,
multi-instrumentation, surreal and lush vocals.
"The music, compared to reading literature, is a book
with the leaves spread in the order of a tree. You get
a three-dimensional picture, like nature's sounds from
a human soul."

Hertta Lussu Ässä

This is a super trio that includes Islaja, Kuupuu and
Lau Nau. What they play is partly improvised
psychedelia and folk with a wide range of instruments
& wild singing. It's a mess of sounds and changing
structures. And wow, they're good at it!
Hertta Lussu Ässä's performances have raised
excitement and euphoria and their debut album will be
out on Eclipse records, late 2005.

TAIKURI TALI

TAIKURI TALI (wizard tali) is Antti Tolvi's new project (rauhan
orkesteri, lauhkeat lampaat, master qsh, päivänsäde...).
TAIKURI TALI is travelling in wide swamps. Floating and jumping. Usually
TALI is travelling whit his elf friends,
but sometimes only whit his imagine cat. TALI's magic stick creates
beutiful psychedelic scenes.
Peacefully and minimal. It can sound like bear in winter sleep, or
butterflies playing in summer field.....
