misdemeanor pot bust usually = no fine, charges dismissed w/no perm record (supposedly) if you have no further "contact" w/NYPD for 6mos-1yr. In the late 90s Giuliani's zero-tolerance policy necessitated a special dispensation for weed busts "marijuana ACD" -- smthing like 10,000 extra people flooded the system cause narcotics cops were busting everybody in sight (or smell etc) w/a roach or some seeds.

this may have relaxed under Bloomie but I'd be double-cautious!

also I'm talking v.small amts for personal use. if you get busted for multiple oz it's still misdemeanor and then you'd probably get a small fine and/or community service -- cleaning the parks, etc.
