i am unable to wait

the son of dean cameron (dr g), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 04:24 (twenty years ago)

I will continue to ignore Wolf Eyes until he rejoins.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 05:40 (twenty years ago)

So I shouldn't bother seeing them Fri?

PHOIOEI (blastocyst), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

if you've seen em before... you don't need to go.

Ian John50n (orion), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:24 (twenty years ago)

I've heard otherwise. As I understand it, the new line-up has really come together recently and is definitely worth checking out.

DR. FRANK EINSTEIN PHD (cprek), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

Is that a Lexington bias?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

No, I heard it from Hive Mind.

DR. FRANK EINSTEIN PHD (cprek), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 13:31 (twenty years ago)

My Lexington bias says 'yes' too though.

DR. FRANK EINSTEIN PHD (cprek), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

CONNELLY = SHRED MASTER

- (smile), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 14:08 (twenty years ago)

wolf eyes are best when creeping, not shredding.

greh has INCENTIVE as he's A BRO IN THE BIZZZ

Ian John50n (orion), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 15:04 (twenty years ago)

Agreed. Boneheadz don't get that shit. Greh is master of el creepodon.

- (smile), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 15:16 (twenty years ago)

I haven't seen CONNELLY play since guess who -- HAIR POLIZEI!

PHOIOEI (blastocyst), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 15:35 (twenty years ago)

Both times in Lexington they creeped. I guess I'm interested to see NYC shredz.

PHOIOEI (blastocyst), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 15:36 (twenty years ago)

What kind of "shredding" are we talking about here?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 15:39 (twenty years ago)

NOT THE GOOD KIND TIM.

Aaron Dilloway = Brian Wilson
Nate Young = Carl Wilson
John Olson = Dennis Wilson
Mike Connelly = Glen Campbell/Bruce Johnston/Al Jardine/Mike Love/John Stamos

alright, i live in detroit and probably run into one member of wolf eyes or another once a week.

here's my take on on the dillo/wolf eyes split + connely invasion.

i have always hated connely, i thought hair police was a sad fucking excuse for a nosie band. they were "the killers" of noise. he made nice nice with olson and young. dillo really never paid him much mind.

anyway, i've been seeing wolf eyes shows since '00 or '01, i don't remember the exact date. i saw the new lineup a few months ago in ann arbor, when the first split happened. all of the die hard fans that came to see wolf eyes were totally disappointed. connely did nothing except play air guitar and make metal faces.

think MANOWAR COVER BAND at it's cheesiest and that's what connely did for wolf eyes.

no more creeping, no more pounding, no more building. just in your face cock rock noise. it was bullshit. the pit was laden with metal heads that beat up the fragile noise kids and it turned into the stupidest show i've ever seen.

since then, connely just hangs around olson and follows him around like a puppy dog.

dilloway plays solo shows here almost every week and fucking kills. seriously, fights with his amps, breaks tables. it's amazing.

until dilloway rejoins wolf eyes, i have vowed not to see them in a setting that i have to pay money for.

greh is a good dude, and he knows his noise. i'm at his house every week for one thing or another. if you don't trust him, then, well... go see for yourself. but you're going to be disappointed.

if you remember... wolf eyes went like this:

Nate
Nate + Dillo
Nate + Dillo + Olson
Nate + Olson + Connely

dillo's aesthetic was really what made me keep coming back for more. sure nate's beats and screaming is awesome and olson is a madman... but dillo provided the structured intellectual basis behind it.

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Hellfaucet OTM

I never saw the original solo/duo Wolf Eyes lineup, just with Dilloway (2001) and it was classic.

Saw Hair Police in 2002, see hellfaucet's comments. Saw them again and they were okay, but still lame.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

DILLOWAY PWNS

BUT

I HERE THEY HAVE REAL WOLVES IN THE BAND NOW

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

fragile noise kids

this concept concerns me

PHOIOEI (blastocyst), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

yeah.

a lot of the dudes i see at shows are really thin and crazy looking. we refer to them as the "noise art fags."

i like violent pits, but not when i get trampled by Bubba and his stirrups.

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 18:31 (twenty years ago)

Here here.

- (smile), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 19:13 (twenty years ago)

If this is the case...
Aaron Dilloway = Brian Wilson
Nate Young = Carl Wilson
John Olson = Dennis Wilson
Mike Connelly = Glen Campbell/Bruce Johnston/Al Jardine/Mike Love/John Stamos

Answer this...
Robert Beatty =
Trevor Tremaine =

My guess would be Van Dyke Parks and Jimmy Webb. Or maybe Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman? Or maybe some poor forgotten soul from the 5th Dimension or Harper's Bizarre.
C'mon.

From one of 'the killers' of 'nosie'
Robert Beatty

Robert Beatty (arbagegarbage), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:02 (twenty years ago)

John Olson maybe a nice guy, but he's pretty boring as far as the noise goes -- all good intentions and no substance.

Jack Cole (jackcole), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:09 (twenty years ago)

You all seem to be forgetting something: Universal Indians.

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:20 (twenty years ago)

NOISE META

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:22 (twenty years ago)

I guess Robert Beatty and Trevor Tremaine are like Don Stevenson and Bob Mosley.

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:29 (twenty years ago)

the odds are that if you release a gazillion recordings a year, one might eventually stick.

Jack Cole (jackcole), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:30 (twenty years ago)

and, i dunno about people ragging on Olson's musical stylee--I think Dead Machines are great!

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:33 (twenty years ago)

YOUNG BOYS YEAH

Old School (sexyDancer), Monday, 26 September 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

Universal Indians were awesome.

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Monday, 26 September 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

BTW.

CONNELLY ISN'T A BAD DUDE OR AN ASSHOLE OR AN IDIOT. HE'S ACTUALLY A REALLY NICE GUY AND IS TONS OF FUN WHEN HE WATCHES NOISE SHOWS.

MY HEART JUST LIES DEEPLY WITH DILLO IN THE WOLF EYES LINEUP.

AS STATED BEFORE... CREEPING IS GOOD.

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Monday, 26 September 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

Dude, Olson brings the JOKES. But yeah, Dead Machines rule.

- (smile), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:08 (twenty years ago)

if by JOKES you mean SCHTICK, then yes.

Jack Cole (jackcole), Monday, 26 September 2005 20:18 (twenty years ago)

Hence the caps, man.

- (smile), Monday, 26 September 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

sowwy.

Jack Cole (jackcole), Monday, 26 September 2005 21:57 (twenty years ago)

MACE INCIDENT
