1997 saw the birth of Louisville, Kentucky's vhs or beta. Starting as a no-wave noise punk outfit, the band recorded their first collection of songs with Kevin Coultas of Rodan, live to 8-track reel-2-reel, and released them on an impossible to find VHS tape. A good year and a half passed and the band started to experiment with keyboards, vocoders, samples, and yes... drum machines. Spotting the guys rockin' out to Kraftwerk and Daft Punk or spinning records at warehouse parties or local clubs wasn't unheard of, as they had grown to soak in the sounds and rhythms of electronic and dance music, and most noticeably, house music.
