cheapniz were gilberto gil, sergey, and $2 tk discos. meant to get sealed sung tongs for $8 but forgot to go back to them at the front

i wish i could go back to haggle sunday but they turned off my cable last night

Too many dealers and people, too expensive, too overwhelming. I bought Laura Branigan's Self Control 12" for 2 dollars, and the Rema-Rema EP for 2 much money. I gave Crazy Rhythms mix cds to Alan Lich at Jim Thirwell. Wanted to spend more time digging through 12" crates under tables but people were nagging me too leave. WFMU DJ Dan Bodah brought his son in a carriage, who was routinely shoved out of the way, in case there were any rare records behind him. Jokes on the shovers because he was lying on top of a 100$ sun-ra record.

I'm sure sunday afternoon will be more pleasant, and with the deals and all, but in the timeless words of sexydancer...I have enough records.

I love how they set up the tables, like I don't know if Mike at WFMU thinks about it or if people request it, but clearly people are grouped together, and there's always that Wayne + Kate/Twisted Village next to Jim O and/or Thurston, then John Allen series of tables. And Chuck Warner always gets his prime spot on or around the middle column.

Was looking forward to the FMU dollar bins this year (I found a bunch of things last year) but came up with nothing. Robin E's table was amazing but a lot of sharp-elbows and nerds fighting two-deep.

I got noise board favorite Fleetwood Mac s/t for $1.

M1K3 G00DST31N was selling a copy of DECEIT for $40.

so, what exactly WERE people selling for a dollar that no one would go near with a ten foot pole? i'll bet i coulda found something good, by gum.

Ugh, seriously! I went at about 10:15, and got lots of stuff, went back at around 4, and sooo crowded! (And still bought more stuff).

I can always find something in dollar bins but I just don't have the energy anymore.

my finds included a copy of the screams for tina 12" (for $2), a faith healers 12" (for fifty cents), the usual assortment of odd paul major 7"'s (some stuff on the creep label out of greece, ana hausen, a really cheap copy of poupee de cire, poupee de son), and a copy of the "smashed blocked" 45 on white whale.

Sorry I missed the hijinx this weekend, I've been seeing 40-year old bands play instead! Sadly Mary and I got stuck with the overproduced, overly glossy & guitar-riff-y Strawberry Alarm Clock for a closer last night.

Am starting to think that a number of bands would be better off with the same technological constraints faced in their ORIGINAL work.

As I stood behind the LP table as the fair was being packed up Sunday at 7, some poor soul did a little presentation for me by shuffling some crayon & construction paper drawings he had made in tribute to the record fair. BETCHA DON'T GET THAT AT ACADEMY EVERYDAY
