oh elmo, my condolences - my cat died a month ago, just from old age we think, and I was absolutely destroyed and still tense up and get sad again when i hear someone else's cat in the street - but I felt all the worse for my brother, since she was his originally and he wasn't even in the country to come and say goodbye to her at the vet's. it really is awful. make sure to make a fuss over the remaining kitty!

kids were surprisingly calm about the whole thing. it was a real old world scene when I got home, grover was on the couch surrounded by toys + farewell cards + catnip. the kids held him and said their goodbyes and then we buried him in the backyard.

rip grover. i lost my cat last month. he just suddenly stopped walking, turned out he had had a stroke and his hind legs got paralysed. and he was just wasting away. we got him cremated and made little silver lockets to keep some of his hair and ashes inside, just so he's always with us kinda thing. i really connected with that cat
i'm still sad about it but his death taught me alot. cats seem to have an amazingly high pain threshold, and his bravery in carrying on for so long despite his pain put some of the obstacles i've created in my life into perspective

i had an intensely emotional dream last night about the cat i grew up with & woke up at 3am with a really unsettling feeling that something was moving around my room. i just now got a call from my mom who told me the cat passed away in her sleep this morning. i'm not superstitious at all but at the same time i can't help but feel spooked by this.
i loved that cat so much. the light of my life.
