Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

COMPARED 2 YOUR SISTER IAN U R A OK JUST GET A JOB

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

dude, I have bounced around from job to job. At the job I'm at now, the one I hate, the one I'll probably get fired from, I make almost half of what I made at my old job (that I got fired/laid off from). I was unemployed (mostly) for 10 months.

My brother is a neurosurgeon, he is married and owns a house.

Now, do you still think my parents don't think I'm a fuck-up and disappointment?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear HPencil:

Yes, I think your parents love you regardless because they know that on the inside you are a kind, good-natured soul.

Best,
Dr. Phil

Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

BEING A KIND, GOOD-NATURED SOUL IS NOT ENOUGH, DR. PHIL.

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

The Legionnaire is a volunteer.

Most often, he has come to the Legion to escape from his past.

Generally, he has joined because of a personal or family crisis or an upheaval in his social or political life. Striking examples of this can be found in the mass enlistment of Alsatians after 1871, of Spaniards in 1939 and of Eastern Europeans after 1945.

For others, those who are unable to deal with the limitations of a middle-class life, the Legion represents a life of adventure.

In the enlistment procedure, selection is very tough. Many candidates are turned down for medical reasons, or after a thorough study of their individual cases. The legionnaire is seldom an angel but never a criminal.

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Friday, 13 August 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

what's worse? being a disappoint to them or being incomprehensible?

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 13 August 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Why is your parent's opinion so important?

dean? (deangulberry), Friday, 13 August 2004 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

am i incomprehensible? this has never occurred to me before.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 13 August 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

it crosses my mind -- im the first kid in my family to ever have gone to college etc and my whole life is pretty weird as far as what im interested in what i can talk to my parents about, etc. im neither fish nor fowl, inbetween being blue collar and some dumbass dilletante (sic cuz im too lazy to look up the correct spelling). i mean, my dad worked for the railroad from 16 to 60 until he retired, likes Glenn Miller and i work in a bookstore and listen to shit like the Dead C and dj smallcock.

jack cole (jackcole), Saturday, 14 August 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

what's worse: knowing you're a disappointment vs. knowing you can't be that much of a disappointment because your parents are much worse?

The latter's my case now. : (
