I've never seen them, always had something going on....anyway, I'm excited! They're one of my favorite bands....I guess they might be doing Xmas stuff w/a choir. I hope they do some hitz too.

Low are the second most boring live act I've ever paid to see. (Will Oldham = 1st)

adam (adam), Friday, 9 December 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

But maybe it works better in Minnesota. Once I saw the Make-Up outside of DC and it was awful. Context etc.

adam on point!

howell huser (chaki), Friday, 9 December 2005 23:37 (twenty years ago)

gear (gear), Friday, 9 December 2005 23:41 (twenty years ago)

most boring live acts: well-behaved Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Stills, Central Falls, Bedroom Walls

more boring than Low: like 8 million no-name generic punk and indie bands I've seen in the last 10 years.

oh and, do you know how to waltz?!!

calderdale in the 70s (gareth), Saturday, 10 December 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

this show was beautiful.

they had a whole forest of Xmas trees up on the stage...did most of the Xmas album (part at the beginning, then part at the end)....middle part of the set was (mostly) new album stuff, but way stripped down, stuff like "Monkey" performed like old-skool Low, very quiet.

for the Xmas stuff, they had another drummer (from Alan's new band Retribution Gospel Choir), a keyboard player, a pedal steel/2nd guitar/banjo guy, and a 8 or 10 person choir! also, the Duluth bluegrass band trampled by turtles played w/them a couple of songs...very cool...they did that John Lennon "so this is christmas" song at the end.

i'm glad I went.
