Laura H. (laurah), Sunday, 25 December 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

When my Mom went to buy from my wishlist, she thought Amazon's recommendations were my actual selections. I got an e-mail shortly thereafter asking me to explain why I wanted three different iPods.

Laura H. (laurah), Sunday, 25 December 2005 18:37 (twenty years ago)

Apparently the rumor's going 'round that I love pistachios.

IM AVOIDING MY GRANDFATHER WHO CALLS BRAZILIAN NUTS "NIGGER TOES"

haha much to my embarrassment, my relatives do this, too. sometimes, they substitute the term "african-american metatarsals" ARGHHHH

i had a nice evening last night and got drunk with my aunt and uncle, then got woken up at 8 am by my cousin who couldn't wait any longer to open presents. then i had to leave at 2 and drive an hour and a half to work where they let me leave early for the first time in history because it was so slow. i am soooo glad i had to leave my family to go to work for half a shift. jerks.

but yeah, merry christmas, noisies!

tres letraj (tehresa), Monday, 26 December 2005 02:18 (twenty years ago)

"Bert! Ernie!"

kingfish holiday travesty (kingfish 2.0), Monday, 26 December 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

Awesome, brock-- I just saw it again myself last night on the big screen (for the second time in a week, as it is most probably my favoritest movie of all time). I also find it moving as hell-- I think George Bailey is the best movie hero ever, and I love its humaneness and friendliness. I definitely got misty-eyed at a few points last night (including when Jimmy Stewart ran around saying "Yay!" like a goon).

Chris F. (servoret), Monday, 26 December 2005 12:04 (twenty years ago)

i played the fm3 machine at thanksgiving for select friends and relatives. they were nonplussed.

hopefully your xmases weren't filled with boorish conversations that only D.C. professionals can wage. i got the fukasaku and suzuki movies i asked for, but strangely, no music/books (except this really great new book by benedict anderson about the origins and motives of anarch1sm vis a vis anticolonialism/anti-imperialism in the late 19th C.)

blackmail.is.my.life (blackmail.is.my.life), Monday, 26 December 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

last time i watched it's a wonderful life, i cried so hard i got a bloody nose. it's one of my all-time favorites, but i think i have to take a break from it for a while.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 26 December 2005 14:38 (twenty years ago)

My mom sent me a ginormous stocking filled of virtually nothing but marzipan shaped into different things. Marzipan fruits, marzipan "business cats" (read: Chinese food restaurant lucky cats), etc.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 26 December 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it's not at all really anti-life, dude-- point of flick is that compassion and living life well day by day are more important than fulfilling one's googly-eyed fantasies. Sad that George never gets to build giant-ass bridges, but his reconciliation with Bedford Falls at the end isn't a defeat.

Chris F. (servoret), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 01:30 (twenty years ago)
